Talk About Mean-Spirited: LA Times Columnist Depicts W as 'Drunk Driver'
Los Angeles Times/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Haven't the MSM been suggesting it's only Republicans who engage in mean-spirited tactics in the closing weeks of a campaign? Yet in her column this morning, the LA Times Rosa Brooks dug deep into the dreck, depicting W as a drunk. She writes:

"When it comes to Iraq, being a citizen in George W. Bush's America is like being a passenger in a car driven by a drunk driver."

Shades of the 2000 campaign, when just days before the election a decades-old Bush DUI surfaced, under circumstances giving reason to believe a Gore aide was behind the leak.

Credit Brooks with an odd form of bi-partisanship in proving, as she has, that Dems can sink this deep into the pre-electoral muck.

Yeah, but it's all the fault of the internet, don't you know. The internet is making the "mainstream media" play fast and loose with the facts and distort reality.

As opposed to being a passenger in a car driven by a drunk Senator from Massachusetts?

Gee, I don't ever remember reading where President Bush ever drove while intoxicated and thereafter, left some poor, young, innocent girl to die of drowning after driving off a bridge?

Oh, that's right, that wasn't W, that was FatBoy Teddy.

And while we're at it, let's not forget that know-it-all Camille Paglia who is getting some free publicity from Drudge with a link to her latest musings, which include "concern about Bush mental condition".

Yeaaaahhhh, that Bush, he's CRAZY!

Like a FOX (and not Michael J!)

Democrats rarely seem to grow up.   When they don't get their way, they call people names rather than honestly debate an issue.   Very sad.

You are being over-sensitive -- she was referring to Teddy Kennedy and Mary Joe riding in his car......

Bush's DUI is pretty lame compared to the Foley incident and now the Webb novel. These days politicians would breathe a sigh of relief that they only had a DUI exposed and it didn't have anything to do with a dead woman or a live boy or both.
