I had heard a report that this area had not had any burns in quite a while. Had you seen or heard anything about that today?
That arsonist, when caught, should be eligible for special circumstances and the DP, imo.
How was this fire set? Hope they catch the bastard.
"I had heard a report that this area had not had any burns in quite a while."
Correct. There were areas around Carbazon that had not had have fires since they've been recording fires.
Just waiting for the 10 o'clock news.
I'm afraid there are going to be a lot of lost homes.
The one remaining hospitalized fire fighter is not expected to live.

Riverside County fire Chief John Hawkins told reporters that Thursday's blaze, called the Esperanza Fire, was deliberately set around 1 a.m. "This is an arson fire" and "constitutes murder," Hawkins said.
In less than 24 hours, the fire blackened nearly 24,000 acres, the equivalent of almost 37.5 square miles, and more than 1,100 firefighters were brought in along with water-dropping helicopters and planes. Ten structures were destroyed. It was not known how many were homes.
The massive fire, which was only 5 percent contained, roared 15 miles to the west from where it began southeast of Cabazon. Resources were being concentrated along Highway 79, and Hawkins said he was hopeful firefighters could hold the blaze east of the road.
