Billionaire political activist George Soros, who spent more than $25 million trying to help defeat President Bush in 2004, has spent almost as much to keep a roof over his head on Fifth Avenue.
The Hungarian-born financier just paid his ex-wife, Susan Weber Soros, $24 million for the 16-room duplex co-op apartment at 1060 Fifth Ave., which the couple shared during their 20 years of marriage.

Wonder why they split up? Do you suppose his mistress "Liberalism" came between them?
Ha - I hope so!
Maybe she didn't like living with a convicted felon.
Some people do that - twenty years of marriage, then just throw it away. Interesting - though I probably shouldn't be surprised - that Soros married a woman twenty-four years younger than himself.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
A total liberal loon.

The activism took off as Susan Soros brought her husband into the orbit of politically active, globally engaged people, all of whom welcomed this newcomer with the big bank account. Before long, Soros was giving away millions of dollars to support free speech and open society around the world.
You can blame his ex for getting him involved in politics. Perhaps now that they split, he'll quit.
That's not an address you want to freep.
Why? Did she start a 527?
Good! I hope she takes the rest of his money.
Sounds like some real money resides there.
87th and Fifth? Oh yeah...
There was an article in just the last week or two that said Soros was "retiring" from politics. And you know he wouldn't lie, right? Aack!
24 Million? Why not live in a million dollar home and give the rest to charity if these libs are supposed to be "champions of the poor". I bet he drives a big gas-guzzling monster.
Probably a nice small personal 747 with seating and sleeping quarters for 10-20 passengers!
You're probably right.
Is this the old wife or the new wife?
Susan Soros, 51, the second wife of the 75-year-old liberal crusader, paid $25 million last June for a five-bedroom duplex apartment at 115 Central Park West, known as The Majestic.
She bought the park-fronting Philippe Starck-designed apartment from investment banker David Mimran, after he bought the place for $12.2 million in 2004 from hotelier Ian Schrager, who paid $9 million for it in 1997.
It's not certain whether she is keeping the Starck design or remodeling, since public records show she's using a Riverside Drive penthouse as a mailing address.
How about 55 copies of TIME ?
