The new wings on the 747-8I ( 800 ) will be raked wings instead of the winglets on the 747-400.
In addition to the raked wings, the wing will be lengthened a few feet.
Boeing found out that they can put raked wings on the 747 and still have the same economical benefits as the winglets, but, also, the wings will have more lifting capability.
That picture you saw of the 747, that is just a artist rendition of the 747, I doubt that the 747-8I wings will have that much wing flex.

That picture you saw of the 747, that is just a artist rendition of the 747, I doubt that the 747-8I wings will have that much wing flex.

Don't be so sure.

With that much flex in a 446 I can see an 8 being exactly what's in the redition.

Plus, I don't think Boeing would have released that drawing were it not accurate.
