As Americans, we're endowed with great blessings and freedoms. With those blessings and freedoms, however, come great responsibility. Good government isn't something to be sold to you, or the result of someone explaining it to you in a persuasive and non-demanding way...it's your responsibility, it's YOUR government. That's the difference between citizens and subjects, and what Franklin was referring to when he replied, "A Republic, Ma'am, if you can keep it."

It's no politician's responsibility to educate, persuade, or sway you. You, as an American citizen, cause the government we get, for better or worse...the quality of the voter determines the quality of the politician, not the other way around.

If anyone needs to clean up their act, it's you...and your neighbors, for whom reality is bothersome, and therefore IRRELEVANT.

Thank you for the 7th grade civics lesson. I am now more informed and humbled indeed than I have been in my 76 years or my 31 years of service after 4 years at USNA or the various professional military education schools and law school. Please accept my grateful and abject thanks.
