Bush is FOS! The President should've closed our borders right after 9-11 and immigration reform should have been a top priority for the GOP five years ago. Now, two weeks before the election Bush and the GOP leadership are attempting to hoodwink Americans into believing they're serious about immigration reform. BULLoney! Bush remains a believer in open borders and amnesty for illegals. IOW, Bush supports liberal immigration policy.

At least he signed it, that's a start. Let's give credit where credit is due, win this damn election, THEN hold his feet to the fire on November 8.

Once again, you shame your namesake.
Even if one agrees about the fence, you damage the cause of conservatism with your foul emotionalism.

Why did Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr. or Clinton not close the border? The illegal problem did not begin under GW. When Reagan saw all those sleeping marines blown up in their sleep in Beirut, why did he not understand the threat of terrorism and close our borders? Everyone is to blame for the failure of illegal immigration. We have not been attacked for five years on our soil, so someone must be doing something right. Throwing it all at the feet of GW is wrong.

You know Reagan Man, if what you say has any merit---if he's just doing this now because it's 2 weeks before the election---I don't really mind.
It's an improvement, it's progress in the right direction, and it might elicit a few extra votes for the Republicans.
It also suggests the President continues to give a damn about the base.
So where's the problem?
To: Reagan Man
It appears it is you who is 'FOS'. After all it was Reagan who gave us 'amnesty'. Do you think Reagan was 'FOS' too?

Bush remains a believer in open borders and amnesty for illegals. IOW, Bush supports liberal immigration policy.Everyone conveniently forgets the 3-way compact with Mexico, Canada and the United States, that he so boldly signed in Texas during summer of 2005 on behalf of all us citizens...

We're supposed to give him credit? For what? What did Bush do except fight this bill tooth and nail every step of the way.
LOL!

You cant simply close down the borders when we get hit. Thats exactly what they want us to do. If we stop being who we are, then the Terrorist win..
As for timing it before the election, yes? and? its a fact of life how elections are run... its reality... of course it was timed... 2 words... who cares. Politics is politics its how its done. The "October surprise" wasn't created in the year 6 years ago.. Every President hopes or plans for something in favor of the party in power before the election(s).
Yes I agree with you that Bush and the republicans have not been the doing very well on the border situation - however no one is perfect and Bush is not a god. He is a man, and I never judge a man by a few faults. In fact i wouldn't want to agree with someone 100% of the time because it would get boring and pretty damn stupid if you ask me. Shit, some of the people im most close to I agree with less then 1/2 the time.
