A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

He looks like something from a prehistoric age or a fantastic creation from Hollywood. But Hercules is very much living flesh and blood -- as he proves every time he opens his gigantic mouth to roar.
Part lion, part tiger, he is not just a big cat but a huge one, standing 10ft tall on his back legs. Called a liger, in reference to his crossbreed parentage, he is the largest of all the cat species. On a typical day he will devour 20lb of meat, usually beef or chicken, and is capable of eating 100lb at a single setting. At just three years old, Hercules already weighs half a ton.
He is the accidental result of two enormous big cats living close together at the Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, in Miami, Florida, and already dwarfs both his parents.
"Ligers are not something we planned on having ," said institute owner Dr Bhagavan Antle. "We have lions and tigers living together in large enclosures and at first we had no idea how well one of the lion boys was getting along with a tiger girl, then lo and behold we had a liger."
50mph runner... Not only that, but he likes to swim, a feat unheard of among water-fearing lions. In the wild it is virtually impossible for lions and tigers to mate. Not only are they enemies likely to kill one another, but most lions are in Africa and most tigers in Asia. But incredible though he is, Hercules is not unique Ligers have been bred in captivity, deliberately and accidentally, since shortly before World War II.
Today there are believed to be a handful of ligers around the world and a similar number of tigons, the product of a tiger father and lion mother. Tigons are smaller than ligers and take on more physical characteristics of the tiger.
According to Snopes, this is true

I took the dog out under an umbrella. He hates to get wet. My dog runs to the door in the excitement of going out, sees the rain and turns around running away from me...........I have to drag her out of the house. I have a sissy dog. Maybe I need to be nice like Onyx and get out the umbrella.
Have a nice day, all.

Losing To Gain

READ:
2 Corinthians 9:6-15He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 2 Corinthians 9:6
On my father's farm were certain fields he sowed by hand. He would strap on a canvas contraption that looked somewhat like a kangaroo pouch, fill it with seed, and go out to sow. He would cast seed everywhere.
When a farmer sows seed in his field, it looks like he's throwing it away. It seems to be lost, but it isn't really gone. In due time he gets it backwith much more besides.
When we give ourselves to Christ, it may seem to people as if we're throwing our life away. But He said that it is only as we lose our lives in Him that we find true life (Matt. 10:39).
Jesus teaches us to measure our lives by losses rather than gains, by sacrifices rather than self-preservation, by time spent for others rather than time lavished upon ourselves, by love poured out rather than love poured in.
It's a rule of life: God blesses those who give of their lives and resources (2 Cor. 9:6). Give out the truth you know, and He'll give you more to give away. Give your time, and you'll have more time to give. Set no limit on your love, and you'll have more love for others than before.
Israel's wise man said, "There is one who scatters, yet increases more" (Prov. 11:24). It's one of the oldest paradoxes in the world, but it works. David H. Roper
We lose what on ourselves we spend;
We have as treasure without end
Whatever, Lord, to You we lend,
Who givest all. Wordsworth

What great pics.
When I was young I begged my mom for a tiger. Gorgeous creatures.
I have no pictures of this..dang it..but last night I almost busted a gut watching my two cats. The Naughty One, Baboo, BaBa Kitty, real name..Angus Junior..loves to get into things. Throw a bag down..seconds.....in. Put a laundry basket down...in...less than seconds. Yesterday I put a shoebox down......in...
He's not a huge cat like Snicky so he was able to fit. He got out..next thing I know Snicky is in the shoebox, but because of his size he knew better and his front paws were the only thing that fit.
Oh how I wish I had my camera and I bet he wishes he had his so he could capture me ROTFLOL!

That's ok, I just hate pinging twice.
I was ready to leave and hate to not post coffee.
Then I had an important call from a state Senator and my plan has changed a tad. I have now rec'd his support in removing the Grand Island bridge tolls.
Now I will get more on board to do it. If I have his, this will get done.
Politics, gotta love it.

the toll isn't too expensive for a two way toll..but the time & stopping etc is the hang up to me. I am sure it is a nightmare during work traffic. It was pretty empty but just slowed everything down for me.
My trip home I took the turnpike as I spent the time touring around Grand Island... Not on long as I exited Silver Creek to hug the Lake to Dunkirk.
