Fixed it.
My sense is they would trust academics implicitly. Which group in America has spoken more venomously about their own society, or has more experience wielding the tools of ideological oppression than our academicians? Many of them couldn't run a 5 cent lemonade stand, yet secretly long to run people's lives. Mao Tse Tung knew this; I expect the Muzzies have figured it out as well.
Amen.
The Democrats of our childhoods have vanished.
The Democrats today are a destructive force to the America that we have known. They are not the Democrats. They are a nearly niilistic leftist party that has usurped the title "Democrat."
Son is studying John Locke and Rousseau. Rousseau would be right in there with these guys, a dangerously naive vision of a utopia where "love is enough" to turn our enemies away.
Because they are our enemies. Since the late 1960's, when the hippy movement took over the party.
My USF prof old friend has used the vizier argument, not as a serious argument but as a well, you know... observation with dollop of smug. He showed that he does believe it but doesn't want to really claim it. If he does then most of them do and the rest will go along. They think they are students of History but they are not too good with numbers. The Caliphs, did indeed rely on Christian and Jewish(and forced convert) viziers and court doctors and such but the total number of them was perhaps in the hundreds over a century or two. That indicates that the Professors' odds are not much better than mine.
That's cool. I've been a Gibson fan ever since the recount in 2000. One Saturday afternoon, I saw him systematically dismantle some Dem/Gore spinning head on the air. It was awesome. I think the other guy is still in low Earth orbit.
Be that as it may... I would rather put up with too many expensive Mexicans than a ton of terrorists.
Now go vote and stop getting involved with, < /idiocy>
BTW, this website A Handbook of Logical Fallacies has something on the use of the term "as a whole", which is what the conservatives who don't plan to vote use to justify not voting for ANY Republican this time out, no matter what their individual positions have been:
* AMBIGUOUS COLLECTIVE
The use of a collective term without any meaningful delimitation of the elements it subsumes. "We" "you" "they" "the people" "the system" and "as a whole" are the most widely used examples. This fallacy is especially widespread and devastating in the realm of political discussion, where its use renders impossible the task of discriminating among distinctively different groups of people.(The term "as a whole" is an assertion that a group of people somehow becomes an entity endowed with attributes other than those attributes possessed by an aggregate of individuals. It would be better to use the expression "composite" than "as a whole" as this preserves the awareness that the group is merely a collection of independent elements.)
Good for Mr Gibson.Who is raising all hell about the statement? the lefties! Truth hurts dont it girls?
So Sorry! I become incensed at the slightest hint someone may not vote. GOP of course. Sarcasm tags become ambiguous to me at such times.
I have become shell shocked by all our stupid compatriots, who are into screwing our country by letting Democrat socialists win this election by default. Simply because the GOP is not pure enough. They should stop expecting virgins, the candidates are politicians for GOD's sake.
Exactly.
They side with the worldwide communist-socialist movement.
If commies are under attack by Hitler, and we declare war against Hitler, THEN they will side with "us", or rather their new allies, fighting to preserve communism.
America is bad, i.e. white, corporate, rich men oppressing people and destroying the planet, and doesn't even have universal health care and gay marriage. It must be replace by the utopian dream of a different system, one so good that people walk around smiling at each other and doing nice things for each other all day long without a selfish thought in their hearts.
The Democrat party has been taken over by the delusional.
You are exactly right. They do not understand freedom. They are bound by their allegiences to their tribes and various religious sects. Thinking that we could just give them the keys to the car without teaching them to drive is insane. No matter how much wishful thinking there is, they will never have a true democratic goverment. The various hatreds amongst eachother are too ingrained.
"If Democrats who hate Bush and who hate the war in Iraq win, the insurgents win. I'm sorry, but it's true. America will set a date to get out and jihad will have carried the day."
He's right.
I'm still not so sure why everyone thinks the war is going so badly.
Way to many people (some of whom should know better) seem to think this is a movie, where the hero saves the day and rides off into the sunset in 1 1/2 hours.
Were mistakes made? ABSOLUTLY! Now I'm going to let you in on a dirty little secret (now shhh don't tell anyone) in every war mistakes are made...I direcet your attention to Operation Market-Garden.
There needs to be a 5 second commercial, aired 50 times a day (TV and Radio) - "Who Would The Terrorists Vote For?"
-----
yup. It says everything that needs to be said in 5 seconds and is so simple. Good one!!!! How about a bumper sticker also?
Our biggest mistake, IMHO, has been being too careful about upsetting the applecart. We need to go after Iran and Syria regardless of what the UN has to say about it.
Just can't help lovin' that man---his words are GOLD!
