LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.
Prosecutors say a suburban Atlanta man circumcised his 2-year-old daughter with a pair of scissors to avoid bringing shame on his family.
The defense blames his wife, her mother and a nasty divorce case.
Khalid Adem, who is on trial this week in Gwinnett County, could face 40 years in prison if convicted.
Assistant District Attorney Marty First acknowledged that Adem, who was born in Ethiopia, is from a culture that practices female circumcision.

There is more to the story than this.
For sure if someone took a scissors to my daughter's genitals I would know. The mom had to be changing diapers.
Now there is a divorce? Custody battle? They were in the circimcision together, and she is just making a big deal about it now to get the kid from him.
By the way, from what I have read about these circumcisions, they are done by the women. After all, it is to preserve the girl from tempting men.
Take the kid from both of them.
More then one sick ba$tard in that family. Who can tell who did it...the mother, father or grandmother. I find it odd the mother didn't notice her baby bleeding or know it was done until more then a year later. All of them deserve jail time. These customs should end in their countries, there should be laws forbidding such things as female circumcision in our country.
Not all are done by women. Some male, muslim faith, doctors do them.
Lock him up, then throw away the key but only after he has been circumcised. Ooooops, the knife slipped.

lol I know. I have no problem with male circumcision, all my sons were done. Female circumcision is usually done in barber shops and at home, not in hospitals. Girls have been hurt very badly and been scarred for life by people not knowing how to do it. Whole thing is disgusting and I really believe this child would be better off without either parent. I do not see how a mother bathing her child would not see something had been done to her or that the child wouldn't have been in terrible pain. I just don't buy she found out more then a year later. Something just is fishy here.

So your problem with it is that it was done in an unsterile environment, by untrained people, with crude instruments? So you would be fine with it if those conditions were remediated?
Or is it the practice and result, per se?
