I don't believe it is part of Sharia law as it is not practiced by all Moslems. It seems to be a practice found primarily in some African nations and parts of the Middle East. I could be wrong as I am certainly no expert on this. This kind of thing must not be tolerated here in the U.S. I would think that feminists would be in a frothing rage over this but I haven't read or heard a peep from them. Maybe I missed it?
You're right. The mother must have known.
Re male circumcision, I knew a guy who was circumcised. He couldn't walk for a year. Badda bing!
Male and Female circumcision are completely different animals.
It makes very little difference to men to live without a foreskin.
It makes a huge difference to female enjoyment of sex if they have a damaged/removed clitoris.
Well, we happen to have a different culture in America that says we will toast your toastables if you do female circumcision here.
BTTT
Are you looking to argue with me? Where does it say I am for this? Go back and READ. Of course I am against this. You should read before you make comments. I think this is a horrible thing to do to a little girl and I said it should be outlawed. Anything else?
"You see that it is a cultural tradition in some parts of Africa, but does not identify where with specificity or whether this is a part of Sharia."
With a name like "Khalid Adem", I doubt very much he would be from Ethiopia or some other 'Southern' province.
But that's the MSM for you. Protecting scumbags at all costs.
celebrate diversity!
Here are some links on it

The AJC would like to cater to the black population in Atlanta that thinks all things African are wonderful but just doesn't want to acknowledge widespread, persistent famine, rampant corruption, illiteracy, disease...yada, yada, yada. I do not know the origins of it, but recall first reading of it about 15 years ago in the context of immigration. An Ethiopian woman who came to the U.S. with no documentation and declared for asylum, ran out of options and plead her last ground - i.e., that she would be subject to genital mutilation if she returned to her home. One of he biggest problems with Africa is the unwillingness of the developed world to call a spade a spade and descry the barbaric practices and conditions there which are deemed a cultural prerogative.
Are you a man who has lived both with and without his foreskin?
Hey, the practice is well accepted and celebrated by the perversity, er, excuse me, the diversity crowd and is a part of the GLBT alliance on many college campuses; the T meaning the sexually-mutilated Transgenders. These sickos, in what is considered a normal thinking process, decide they are really not the physical sex they were born with but the opposite sex and hence they have their genitals mutilated to fit the perverted sense of self-perception.
Let's try and think logically.
That's the first thing that I thought of too regarding this. How could the mother not know if the child was mutilated in such a way. You would not notice blood in diapers or panties. Did she not change or bathe the child? That alone would leave reasonable doubt in my mind if I were on the jury. For what it's worth, the grandmother is a pediatric nurse.
She should have put a bag over her head and said she escaped from Gitmo.
Maybe then they would have paid more attention to her.
Are you? My we seem to be in a mood today . Personally I dont like the foreskin. And if you READ all of my comments you would see I had my sons done in the hospital as newborns. I just asked one of them if he remembered getting it done, he said no. So I think its ok for the males to get it done and NOT ok for the females. Go read those links.
If this is an Islamic custom has Queen Noor AND Queen Rania of Jordan - one of the most beautiful woman in the world gone through this practice?
I don't think it is part of Sharia. It was a tribal custom in some areas that later became Muslim, but the custom persisted.
Testy, aren't we today? Let's have some fun and parse your obnoxious reply.
"Are you looking to argue with me?" No. I can see that there is no reason at all for me to argue with you.
"Where does it say I am for this?" It doesn't. Nor did I imply it.
"Go back and READ." Yes m'am. Anything else?
"Of course I am against this." I figured that.
"You should read before you make comments." I asked two questions. Is that allowed? Was that just allowed.
"I think this is a horrible thing to do to a little girl and I said it should be outlawed." I figured that.
"Anything else?" No, I've got work to do.
