It's not the religious right that goes into fits. We strongly support placenta, umbyllical cord, and adult stem cell research. We simply want to prevent federal funding for experiments which harvest EMBRYOS that, if implanted, would 18.75 years later be voting in elections and fighting in wars for us.
I haven't even seen many of the social conservatives complain about the funding for the existing embryonic stem cell lines.
No, all the hystrionics are on the pro-embryo-harvesting side. And they lie about their cause constantly in order to try to get good, decent, hard-working americans to fund their evil plans by forced contributions.
Fact is, the federal government has no real right to take ANY tax dollars for research of ANY kind. And if they didn't, they could lower our taxes, and each person could donate to the charities of their choice -- meaning people like Fox could donate all of their money to embryonic stem cell research, while those of us who honor life could donate to churches that help pregnant girls keep their children.
So this Hollywood jerk Michael Fox has been campaigning for Democrats using his illness as a political scoring point.
It is hard to imagine a more cheap campaign tactic.
There are 19 strains of embryonic stem cells that are grandfathered into the exception. The federal government will not support research on any new strains.
So it is mistaken to say that if the federal government supports stem cell research that they are somehow promoting the harvesting of embryos. A total mistake.
Me too.
You got the bucks McFly....pay for your own damn research.
1) MJF is hardly an objective voice on the subject. Sure, we all feel for the guy and no one wants to be in his shoes. But he is desperate for a cure and thus will grasp at anything and this has to be taken into consideration.
2) Has MJF supported other forms of research? Does he support Adult Stem Cell Research (ASCR)? After all, isn't the cure score ASCR 70-something, ESCR zero? Did he issue supportive words for GWB's initiative to start federal funding of SCR, albeit the ASCR version? Did he say "nice start but you left something out" or did he take the partisan ESCR or nothing approach? The answer to that question would be very telling.
They are not willing to show or discuss the obvious "good" result. That probably the greater percentage of people utilizing Abortion are Liberal.
Let's say 70%.
Statistics also show that approximatly 80% of children follow their parents in political beliefs. There have been approximatly 40 million, yes 40 Million with an M, abortions since they have become nationally "Legal".
We can compute from that,
40M at 70% = 28M at 80% =22.4M
and Conversely
40M at 30% = 12M at 80% =9.6M
The rest being non-political?
Liberals are aborting themselves at a rate twice as great as Conservatives.
Of course that is the only "good" thing I can find about abortion.
I'll just choose to remember him as Alex P. Keaton and Marty McFly.
Exploit?? MJF Volunteered! He is a willing accomplice to lies and distortions. Remember Kerry 2004? MJF did the same thing, using his illness to score political points for Dems by saying GOP doesn't care about the disease. Mike Fox is not a good man, he is political activist that is of the repugnant kind. He is being shameful. And this is part of a larger scheme by Dem activists to use this for 2008 elections. Mike Fox does not deserve any praise, he deserves our scorn.
Somebody had to take Christopher Reeve's place. The dems used him too. It didn't work then. Are you really surprised by this tactic? I'm not.
