Only 25 percent of the American people according to the latest Newsweek poll are now "optimistic" about the direction of the war in Iraq; 65 percent are "pessimistic."
Why have so many Americans, only now, come to realize that this war has gone bad...?

Doubt the everyday muslim knew what was coming. Also doubt they were saddened by the slaughter. Too much teaching of hatred in their mosques.
I have no answer. The older I get the more I think it's just a weird fluke, or divine Providence that our republic has lasted as long as it has. I'm more and more cynical about humans, as they are selfish creatures (for the most part) who don't often put the good of anything else above themselves, and most don't have the foresight to see how something might affect them in the future.
