...

"I am not going to quit this race and I am going to win this race," Nguyen told reporters called to his campaign headquarters for a press conference.

....

Campaign spokesman Bill Braniff conceded someone close to the campaign, in fact, wrote the letter, which was later translated to Spanish and sent out.

"I acknowledge that somebody connected with the campaign did draft it," said Braniff, adding that the translation of the text had altered its original intent to address only people who were not citizens and thus ineligible to vote.

Braniff said an initial English-language draft of the mailer made specific references to illegal immigrants and green card holders. The Spanish mailer used the word emigrado, which is defined as someone living outside his or her country, according to the Real Academia Española.

Braniff claimed that the word has been incorrectly translated as "immigrant" by the public.

He may as well stay in. I'm doubt that he will win, but there's two weeks left, so why quit not? Anyway as they say, any publicity is good publicity.

According to the definition of "immigrant" used by the U.S. government, the letter is accurate.

As one who used to live in the district(the boundaries were changed when the GOP gained the majority so I am in Rohrabacher's 46th district now) I have a little bit of a problem with a candidate like Nguyen who switches parties and moves to a bordering district just to run for office again. Nguyen ran as a Democrat against Rohrabacher in the last election.

That said, sounds to me like the letter was correct to a point and mistranslated.

Personally, I liked the Republican lady, her name escapes me presently, who ran against Sanchez in the previous election.

Sounds to me like we need more candidates like him who understand that voting is a right reserved for citizens.

"Personally, I liked the Republican lady, her name escapes me presently, who ran against Sanchez in the previous election."

The lady's name is Dr. Alexandria Coronado.
Very intelligent, well spoken and CONSERVATIVE!
But Sanchez with the help of illegals voting(No ID required to vote in CA)and a smear campaign on Coronado; Sanchez won.

For those who don't already know this,
Sanchez rented an apartment in the district(she was living with her family in L.A.)and she dropped her married name to pander to the Hispanic(read illegal voters)when she ran against Bob Dornan. Sanchez's husband was caught by the police tearing down Dornan's signs. Dornan contested the illegals' election vote count but the GOP failed to support him.

Well that's all water under the bridge now, Dornan moved away to the D.C. area and we're here trying to keep California for Californians.
It's the Alamo all over again!LOL
