I saw that MJF ad last night, and thought it was one of the most self-serving disgusting things I have ever seen.

And that was before I realized that he was acting.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with the stem cell bill on the ballot here, because many of the local churches have been holding education sessions for months.

But this commercial was not for Amendment 2, it was for Clair McCaskill, which makes it worse.

The spot was for Claire McCaskill, thereby implying that by electing her, the sick will be healed. Disgusting.

Stem cells might cause brain tumors, study finds

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Injecting human embryonic stem cells into the brains of Parkinson's disease patients may cause tumors to form, U.S. researchers reported on Sunday.

Steven Goldman and colleagues at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York said human stem cells injected into rat brains turned into cells that looked like early tumors.

Writing in the journal Nature Medicine, the researchers said the transplants clearly helped the rats, but some of the cells started growing in a way that could eventually lead to a tumor.[snip]

This is just another issue that the Republicans have completely failed in framing. A 30 second commercial comparing adult stem cell research vs embryonic stem cell research would reveal where the resources should really encouraged. A final line to the commercial should read, "It's not about the research it is about the abortions".
