Y'know, all of you that see a problem with the Academy providing a place for Moslems to pray, you're right. Eliminate all of the 'places of worship' in the Academies and millitary units worldwide. My tax dollars shouldn't go towards any religious services for Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Bhuddist, or Muslims. We're paying these soldiers to fight, not to go to Church/temple/mosque/etc. If any of them want to pray, do it on their time, and their dime.
While this may seem alarming, we need Muslim friends to help penetrate Al-Queida and the other Islamic radical groups, intelligence officers, and translaters. Also, it will show the world that we do care about all religons and that there is seperation of church and state.
OTOH, Muslims should be subjected to much more extensive background checks by the FBI before entering the US Military.
In filtration is the only word that comes to my mind.
Muslims don't belong in America, they don't belong in the U.S. military, and they sure as hell don't belong at West Point.
That's like allowing Nazis to train and learn at the Citadel during WW2.
If you were a bookmaker, what would the over/under be for muslims with nefarious intentions for joining the military?
I would put it at 33%.
They better be keeping a keen eye on every one of these new recruits, there's no way that 100% of them are 100% loyal to the USA.
So... I'll start over and try and understand the other side's point.
All Muslims are to be distrusted and are enemies. And Islam is not a religion; just a political system.
Could anyone explain these statements to me? The discussion won't get anywhere when the two sides have fundamentally different views on these two statements.
