A blast from the past.

One of Sen. John Kerry's celebrity supporters is ready to pull out all the stops to get him elected. Republicans are shrieking over a suggestion by rocker Moby that Democrats spread gossip about President Bush on the Internet. "No one's talking about how to keep the other side home on Election Day," Moby tells us. "It's a lot easier than you think and it doesn't cost that much. This election can be won by 200,000 votes." Moby suggests that it's possible to seed doubt among Bush's far-right supporters on the Web. "You target his natural constituencies," says the Grammy-nominated techno-wizard. "For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion.

There are going to be lots of trolls predicting doom and gloom in the next two weeks.

If Michael Steele wins and writes a book think she'll rush to have him on? Somehow I don't think she'll find time for him.

Election 2004:

Congress CBS News/New York Times Poll. Oct. 14-17, 2004. N=931 registered voters nationwide (MoE ± 3); 678 likely voters (MoE ± 4). Per CBS: "Every registered voter is included in the likely voter model, and is assigned a probability of voting, which is used to calculate the likely voter results. The sum of these probabilities is the effective number of likely voters."

.

"If the 2004 election for U.S. House of Representatives were being held today, would you vote for the Republican candidate or the Democratic candidate in your district?"

My favorite part of election night 2004 was when Edwards came out at like 4:00 in the morning to give a pep talk to all the dispirited Kerry supporters.

Yep, it was a perfect example of the Dems reliance on a cooperative media. Kerry/Edwards knew it was over by then. They needed to buy time for the lawyers to tell them whether they could pull another Gore. Edwards comes out and gives the MSM their talking points.

As I recall, when Edwards appeared it started pouring down rain as more and more of the audience shrunk away. If that had been a Republican, the media would have gone into overdrive working the metaphor for collapse. But they had their marching orders and dutifully backed off calling Ohio/Nevada/NM/Colorado for Bush.
