I've thought about the Beltway snipers many times.
When you think about what a couple of odd, dumb weirdos were able to do to a whole area in the way of fear and devastation, it makes you wonder. I mean, they had no money, were not particularly skilled or smart but look what they did to society in that part of the world.
Also, could we think about considering 4 planes weapons of mass destruction. They certainly did mass destruction.
We are up against one of the best BS parades ever released upon a population, supplied by the enemy and supported and voiced by the enemy from within. If the rats should succeed this year in even closing the gap(which I have not conceded yet) their losses in 08 will be so severe they will wish they actually did have a party platform.
I noticed that in most of the photos in your post there's a number of them with these so-called Dem leaders gesturing with their finger.
I can think of a one-fingered gesture I'd like to return in their direction.
I was disheartened by Brit and Bill Kristol both buying into the predictions of big Republican defeats. I was hoping that they were going to buck that conventional wisdom. Everyone so far today is dropping in "it could still change" type statements, but they don't seem to believe it.
The panel on MTP was just grotesque in cheering each other on to make more and more outrageous predictions. It's like they were bidding at an auction. "I predict 20 seat. No, I predict 35 to 40! It's a real tidal wave I tell ya!"
I cited Dafyd ab Hugh's analysis of the skewed polls from a few days ago on another post. Friday he posted a further analysis claiming that the Foley scandal and the resulting trend cutting off Republican gains in September was a good thing! He's suggesting:
In other words, the most noticible effect of the Democratic Party's scandalmongering was to prevent the Republicans from peaking too soon!
Once again, the Democrats come galluping in from stage left to rescue the GOP from its own folly. If we manage to hold both houses of Congress, I think we owe a debt of gratitude to the Democrats for nudging the cycle just when it had settled in to give them the victory.
It's an interesting piece. His analysis before this conclusion, though not backed up by data, is worth reading.
I looked for ones like that to go along with the idea of them lecturing us about how it's all our fault that we don't pay enough taxes.
They're stupid if they don't, but then no one ever said those in the MSMN were smart.
BTW - Steffy is pounding Bush and he's sitting there and answering questions w smarts, facts, humor and like a gentleman - - no finger pointing!
I don't know how polling can be successful these days.
I really don't.
Even if they didn't try to put spin on it, nobody I know answers their phones any more (my children certainly don't).
Most people keep their answering machines turned on and only pick up if it's someone they want to talk to.
And a lot of people have given up land lines altogether and pollsters can't find cell numbers.
And people just don't want to talk to pollsters. You're always sorry you did. They have a long list of questions, some of which are hard to answer, etc. etc. It takes a lot of time. I don't do it anymore.

It appears to be a good thread this week, though the shows look completely over the top. Today and the next two weeks worth of these shows are their equivelant of a hail Mary pass. They're throwing the ball long and going for all or nothing.
When he DOES get time, he undercuts the President, as he has done today. I am ready for him to retire. (He is my senator.)

The Obama record includes a vote, in April 2002, against the bill to protect live babies born of botched abortions. In the U.S. Senate even hard-line Democrats had supported the measure: not Obama when the bill came up in Illinois. In the U.S. Senate many strongly pro-abort liberals voted for a partial-birth abortion ban: not Obama when the vote came up in Illinois, twice voting "present" rather than state his convictions. In 2001 he voted "present" on a bill to notify parents when their minor children seek an abortion.
In 1999 he voted against requiring school boards to put Internet pornography filters on school computers meant for students’ use only. He twice voted "no" on a bill to let school districts require disruptive students to complete suspensions before being readmitted in a new school district. He voted "present" on a bill that passed the State Senate with heavy majorities requiring students who fire guns on school grounds to be prosecuted as adults.
In 2001 he voted against a bill that added extra penalties for crimes committed in furtherance of gang activities. He voted against a bill making it a criminal offense for accused gang members, free on bond or on probation, to associate with known gang members. In 1999 he was the only state senator to vote against a bill prohibiting early prison release for criminal sexual abusers.
Also on tax increases, disregarding his own rhetoric on fighting the high cost of health care, Obama voted last May to hike the tax on insurance premiums. On the same day he voted to preserve Illinois’ death tax, hike taxes on casino visitors, and slap new sales taxes on business.
While Democrats point to Obama’s keynote address as typifying a smooth, nonconfrontational candidacy, his campaign has received an outpouring of funds from extremely liberal PACs, including Progressive Choices ($5,000), Planned Parenthood ($5,000), the National Education Association ($5,000), and People for the American Way ($1,000), the group blocking President Bush’s judicial appointments. Sen. Hillary Clinton’s Leadership PAC gave him the maximum contribution of $10,000 as did the American Federation of Teachers and the National Abortion Rights League.
On June 7 Obama was the recipient of a good haul of radical money from George Soros, who has charged that President Bush is akin to Adolf Hitler — $60,000 total from four family members. They’re able to contribute such large amounts because under the McCain-Feingold law the limits are stretched if one of the opposing candidates was a self-funding multimillionaire (as Jack Ryan was).

Colorado 7 is mostly Democrats so any Republican has a hard time there. Beauprez won it but O’Donnell is having a harder time of it. Current negative ads, on both sides, seem to be having an impact. I actually believe Rick O’Donnell will pull this out in the end.
Colorado 4. National Democrats and our rich CO Democrats targeted Musgrave. She will win anyway.
Colorado 5. Joell Hefley hurt Lamborn by not supporting him but that district is too heavily Republican and Lamborn will win.
Governor. Ciruli is pretty good across the state and we listen to him. However, he still uses likely voters and has been wrong in the past. IF Beauprez can win, it will be close. Both sides are running a mix if negative and positive ads. Ritter got caught plea bargaining with illegal aliens to reduce jail sentences, and that’s just starting to come back to haunt him. Beauprez just started new positive ads, but pointing to his obvious difference of real world business experience.
Few of the national polls on any of these guys are even close to accurate. I still add a minimum of 5% points in favor of the Republican to get to a closer count.
Tancredo will win and younger brother Salazar could be upset. Udall will win in Boulder and DeGette will win in Denver. One problem Democrats have is turn out and likely wins don’t help them. The unknown is the huge number of ballot questions voters will be voting on. Marijuana, same sex marriage benefits, increased funding for schools, new funding for pre schools, term limits for judges are all issues that will bring conservative voters out in stronger numbers over what the liberal activist voters can do for their side.
Boy, that's the truth! I think only people over 40 answer their phones when they ring. My kids have caller ID and an answering machine and very rarely do they pick up the phone for anyone other than relatives. They always check the phone number and ID and do not waste their times with survey companies, whether they are doing political polls or detergent brand preferences.

In fact, I think Martin's best line in the movie must be the same thoughts the conservatives in Congress have watching the RINO's on the Sunday Morning shows.

What I did, I stopped into the GOP headquarters to pick up some lawn signs. Heh, my lawn is covered with signs cause right up the street some idiot has Beau Biden signs on their lawn and we can't have this. Most of my community has Repub signs but there's always a liberal in the woodpile somewhere.
So I got to talking, as I perused the signs, as we political junkees are wont to do and here I was in GOP headquarters after all. I saw a sign for someone running for County Auditor and the flashing lights went off in my head. Well why the hell can't *I* be county auditor? Not that I knew much then what it was but I sure have a hellofalot of experience doing that kind of crap.
So I talked to my buddies in Baltimore who run the largest property management firm in that city and for whom I've been working for these past eight years. They also own several campgrounds and mobile home parks right down the street here. They've always enthusiastically endorsed me to run for SOME political office but like I said, I really don't want to be beholden to anyone. Although they are very honest people and run their businesses very fair. Just entrepreneurs, employing now over 150 people, doing business and making a profit.
I showed the lady at the GOP desk my Blog and she was fascinated. She had been, when I started jabbering, viewing the Blog "Little Green Footballs". She had no idea there was a Delawarian out there writing faithfully on Delaware politics. PLUS, somebody posted a comment on my Blog with some intriguing background about Beau and hey, I had plenty of posts about this creep and also some issues I have with Mike Castle.
Anyway, this Sussex county republican women thing, well she invited me, directed me to their web site. No such a thing even existed when I moved here to the swamps of Delaware almost four years ago. And they DO seem to be very influential. They have a luncheon once a month, last Wednesday I think. They have incredible speakers addressing them and I am told they have a turnout from fifty to eighty women at each luncheon. Impressive for a new organization like this in this county with so many new voters still trying to figure out the lay of the land.
So I'm lining up my ducks and trying to figure out what a County Auditor does. But I know I can do it and I got some big business people who will back me up. I've handled millions of dollars for these people and have consulted with them for major changes to their businesses.
So okay, I'll tell you one story....and this is just one but it's interesting. This company owns a BIG hotel in Ocean City, Merryland. Called the Princess Royale, I'm not trying to be coy and I don't care if anyone figures out who they are.
So the management at this hotel, three months after I moved down here, booked, get this...some sort of wife-swapping, sado-masochist group at this really nice hotel. It was called "The Black Rose"...this weirdo group.
Now Ocean City Merryland prides itself on its family, wholesome image and once this group got booked the whole town was in an uproar.
So here I am, working for these people, and I'm in a total state of confusion. I'd just moved down this way and hey, I also consult for a beauty salon in OC. I sat there while my niece (owner of the salon) did my hair and heard those women complaining about this group coming to town and I wanted to slide down in my seat in shame. I did think it was a terrible, terrible choice, very shameful. I had never done any work with this hotel but I'd been there plenty of times as, heh, I gotta discount due to my connections and the DELMARVA Christmas parties are always held there. It was on all the TV stations down this way and the fur was flying.
So I go up to Baltimore for another consulting job and I meet with the paternal Scion of this family, a very intelligent but ruthless man who scares the hell out of me. I knew him from my other projects for this family and had to work with him but never did I have much to do with this hotel.
One of his sons listened to my laments about this decision with "The Black Rose" and called his Dad to grant me an audience. You know what I told him?
"Mr. (insert paternal scion name here), I do not think you have any idea the damage you are causing to your company by booking this group at the Princess Royale. Mr. (insert paternal scion name here), I am very ashamed to be working for your company."
Yeah, my knees were shaking but it was a really, really bad business decision and hey, I was ashamed.
Well I to into the car with the scion's son and we headed off to the shopping center that I managed (heh, another story) and soon the scion phoned his son and you know what he said?
"Tell Pat that I've contacted (insert name of Princess Royale hotel manager here)." I could hear him as the son turned the cell phone on speaker so I listened intently. "I've cancelled "The Black Rose" so tell Pat. Don't want her to be ashamed of us."
Well damn if I know what the moral of this story is but that I stuck to my guns and meant what I said. Later, this same hotel had an outbreak of Legionaire's disease (allegedly, never been proved) and a worker died when he fell from scaffolding while putting up Christmas lights. The publicity was horrible but the hotel, one of the biggest and best, survived it. Who knows how awful it would have been had they went ahead and had that convention of wife-swapping, leather-wearing, whip-weilding perverts?
It's my story and I'm sticking to it.
If My beloved home state is going on a Republican Trend should't we have won in 2000 and 2004? Keep mind that both Wise and Joe both won they both beat Republicans and also should't john by ahead in the polls? You see truth is that we love our bibile's and we love our guns but the fair of people of West Virginia only care about what you will do for them thats why Byrd keeps winning its not that the people care about rather or not he's in the KKK or his views on Iraq they only care about he is doing for them do yourself a fav come down there to the Coalfields you'll see why Byrd keeps Winning By the way you should know I gave John over $2,000 dollars to him win
