As a Roman Catholic, I don't agree with the theology of the monks. I think you should investigate it further. Patriarchs of Constantinople seem to be quite modernist since time of WWI. They might be akin to progressive Episcopalians, to like more radical interpretations of Vatican II and color coded revolutions.
