As a Roman Catholic, I don't agree with the theology of the monks. I think you should investigate it further. Patriarchs of Constantinople seem to be quite modernist since time of WWI. They might be akin to progressive Episcopalians, to like more radical interpretations of Vatican II and color coded revolutions.

I didn't mean to imply that I thought that the Patriarchs are better theologically. But by definition if the monks say that their style of Orthodoxy is the One True Church, and I say that Roman Catholicism is the One True Church, then we have an important disagreement on theology. I think the filioque stuff can be worked out. Some of these problems stem from taking an Aristotelian/Thomist philosophical perspective as opposed to the more Eastern Platonic approach (which is certainly just as valid). In any event, I hope the Orthodox can work these things out without forcibly removing the monks.
