BEIJING North Korean leader Kim Jong-il told a visiting Chinese delegation that the communist nation didn't plan to conduct additional nuclear tests, a news report said Friday.
Kim told Chinese envoy Tang Jiaxuan that "we have no plans for additional nuclear tests," Yonhap news agency reported, citing an unnamed diplomatic source in Beijing.
Kim also expressed regret about his country's nuclear test to the delegation and said Pyongyang would return to nuclear talks if Washington backs off from its financial sanctions, a South Korean newspaper reported Friday.

My first thought to hearing this was that the Chicoms put a gun to his head and told him what to say.
Anybody who believes that, stand on your head.
I suspect a test on or near election day.
The Chinese took away his matches ---- for now.
He's so ronery now...and running out of Johhny Walker.
Victory for Bush! Well, maybe this is not entirely because of Bush/Rice administration efforts but you can bet if clinton, gore, or kerry were president the media would be lauding them for defusing the situation.
Just proves that the Chinese had the power to reign this fool in all along, but wasn't using it.
Translation: I ran outta fire crackers.
Yep, he told this to Bubba and Madeline so I guess we should believe him.
What did we have to give the Chinese to get this result?
More like Bolton put the gun to China's head and they saw the light.
Someone let me know when Clinnochio or Jimmah recognizes that Bush's "failed North Korea policies" are actually working.
Not as sorry as you're GONNA be...
Maybe a case of Rice saying to Japan and South Korea, to relief of China, "No need for your own nukes". China talks to NK. QUID PRO QUO?
Rice and Chinese envoy Tang Jiaxuan meet in Beijing for a beer, hoist bottles to celebrate deal?
OK, what next?
I believe that the Chicoms eventually plan to go to war with the US, but I think it is probably fifty to a hundred years away. Their prosperity is too dependent upon us right now and a war would destroy that. They like the idea of the North Koreans being a thorn in our side, but they don't want to push it to the point that we do something.
Could be. Or it could be as simple as it seems.
The Chinese plan is a long "bide our time" strategy. Chinese are more conservative than Goldwater. Ronery brought this to the point of US Navy interdicting Korean shipments. China don't need outright hostilities on the Korean Peninsula right now. Instability yes, live fire, no.
6-party talks worked as well as any theoretical international DoS or DoD plan could actually work, I think.
Hitler regrets the Holocaust, Saddam Hussein regrets mass murder and torture, Stalin and Mao regret starving millions to death, homosexuals regret causing AIDS pandemic, and Teddy Chappaquiddick Kennedy regrets killing Mary Jo Kopechne.
