You are quoting the policy of M.A.D.

It is our current policy, and the response will be tailored accordingly. Any attack response to any continent, automatically gets the rest involved. It's accepted policy, and this is why it works."

Yes this is known between Russia, China, Iran, No. Korea etc, but what has not been stated is that we will nuke China or Russia if North Korea or Iran uses a nuke directly or by terrorist proxy on us. It means they must be responsible for putting a leash on these countries like we do instead of helping them along...

"Ummmmmmm.....I beg to differ, but the reality is that nobody wins."

Yeah we in America know that but do the Russian's and Chinese? They certainly act like their is much to gain in causing global insecurity by assisting countries like North Korea and Iran go nuclear. Even if they do realize it, Iran and North Korea will change once they know longer need their sponsors.

If this story about Jong-il are to be believed, the only reasons he has regrets are because the test was a bust and North Korea doesn't have the intelligence to make a block buster nuclear test work. Or else it is because he really does like his foreign expensive brandy.

China is probable eyeing this area for a hostile takeover and Kim knows it. The westest European areas would probable celebrate it.

I read two prophecies lately: one that Kim would be killed, and another that N and S Korea will be united again. Interesting to see how this plays out.

If he does not relent, and come back to the table, or if another test is threatened, China will likely take him down without firing a shot.

I doubt they would stay long. Just enough time to replace the government and rearrange the deck chairs, and they would do this with American support, or at least without our standing in their way.

I think this would be the most likely outcome if he continues down this path, and I think he will. I also think this is the best course of action.

The formal apology, is part of their culture when one party angers or imposes on another. It was expected by China, and was mandatory for Kim.

It's not very important to anyone else involved in this, and means little to us. Or should actually mean nothing as far as this situation is concerned..

The NK recipe for success:

Test Nuke so Iran can see what they'll be buying.

Get sanctioned as a result

Express regret to eliminate sanctions

Sell Nukes to Iran

Watch the $$$$ roll in

Bingo!! I agree on all points.

""...I was reading an article here a couple months ago about China building underground facilities similar to Russia's underground cities/complexes. The bummer for us in this scenerio is Russia has her own energy source and we don't. I believe we will win long-term but it's certainly an Armeggedon type scenerio in-between."""

We too have under-ground cities, but not for us peons. We could easily have our own energy sources if the will was there to over-ride the BS of the environmental/demo nuts. I hope your right about our long term win, but sadly I doubt very many Americans would live to see it, if your scenario really happens.

What did we have to give the Chinese to get this result?

The 2008 Olympics.
