U.S. intelligence has detected the departure from a North Korean port of a North Korean ship suspected of carrying military equipment banned under a U.N. sanctions resolution against Pyongyang's Oct. 9 nuclear test, CBS News reported Thursday.

The United States is tracking the ship, CBS said, noting that it remains uncertain exactly what the ship is carrying and where it is headed.

Huh?

Perhaps missiles headed indirectly for Hezballah by way of Iran? We might just wait for the delivery to blow the ship to kingdom come.

The Spanish Navy boarded a PRK ship off Yemen a few years back and I don't think anyone complained.

The political scene three years ago was *much* different than it is today. The anti-war Marxists hadn't gotten their campaign in full gear as they have today.

Three years ago,Bush wasn't seen by too many as being the most dangerous and murderous man alive.Today, most of the world believes that.

The vote on U.N. Security Council Resolution 1718 was unanimous. You may wish to read it.

And in today's political climate, that means what?

Looney Tunes has already said he'd consider that an act of war. Are we ready to see him try to flatten Seoul, nuke Tokyo, Honolulu and Seattle? If so, board and search. I'm with 'ya. If not, stall.

I know. It's Bush's fault. He had Kim do all of this to cause an incident... that he can respond to... and look like a hero... and cause the Republicans to win... and yada yada yada. I figure the dems will find some ridiculous way to spin this.

Rove the magnificent of course. Nothing to see here, move along. Let's get back to talking about why those Republicans just have to lose this time. All the polls say so; it's settled science. ;-)

You could be on to something. Kim knows we'd be watching all ships leaving his ports, and now only days after the resolution is passed, a North Korea vessel with a suspicious history leaves port....

a high-ranking Chinese or Russian or Iranian muckety-muck

Iranian. A Russian or Chinese wouldn't want to be on a N Kor ship. There are standards Russians or Chinese wouldn't sink beneath.

US shadows Korean ship

THE United States is monitoring a North Korean vessel that appears to be suspicious, a US intelligence source said today.

"It isn't clear what it's carrying. It's a suspicious vessel," the source said. The "CBS Evening News," quoting US intelligence sources, reported that a North Korean ship possibly carrying military equipment banned by UN sanctions had left that country for an unknown destination.

The report said the ship was being tracked while US officials tried to determine what was on board and what to do about it. No other details were available.

IOW
All cargo is to be inspected, on the high seas, whether suspected or not.
