U.S. intelligence has detected the departure from a North Korean port of a North Korean ship suspected of carrying military equipment banned under a U.N. sanctions resolution against Pyongyang's Oct. 9 nuclear test, CBS News reported Thursday.

The United States is tracking the ship, CBS said, noting that it remains uncertain exactly what the ship is carrying and where it is headed.

Agreed...if we hit it or seize it...they do it in a very public manner....a message needs to be sent to other rogue states.

It's headed here with more missiles and data from their nuclear test? Just a guess.......

Why do you say that? The Spanish Navy boarded a PRK ship off Yemen a few years back and I don't think anyone complained.

Is there a New York Times reporter on board?

If not, why not?

Whatever about the Russians, the Chinese are the only ones who have been really vocal on inspections on the high seas. Then again, they did vote for the resolution, so they don't really have much of an argument.

I know. It's Bush's fault. He had Kim do all of this to cause an incident... that he can respond to... and look like a hero... and cause the Republicans to win... and yada yada yada. I figure the dems will find some ridiculous way to spin this.

Knowing that NK ships will be boarded, Kim will send out a ship either on a suicide mission (e.g. detonate a chemical or nuclear warhead when boarded) or else the ship will be packed with completely innocuous cargo (e.g. canned milk for babies) or a diplomatic time-bomb (e.g. a high-ranking Chinese or Russian or Iranian muckety-muck).

NK/China/Russia/Iran will then use the incident to justify their next move.

Game on!
