An endorsement from the left-wing Denver Post. I did not see that coming.

"unyielding. (That's [not] bad.)" Controlling our borders is an issue of principle. Never compromise your principles. It would be a sell-out if you did.

I saw it coming. Liberals are figuring out that illegals are eating into their social program money.

So Tancredo is good as long as he "compromises" his positions.

A "sensible middle ground" on immigration is like a sensible middle ground on cancer. It will get you killed.

You could just see them holding their noses when thay made this endorsement. I bet it nearly killed that cluster of left-wing, me-tooers who inevitably follow the lead of the NY Times and Wash Post. And doesn't that intellectual colossus Cindy Rodriguez sit on the ed board? Reading between the lines, I would bet money the publisher stepped in and told them what to do.

It shows how powerful the anti-illegal movement has become. Now the pro-illegal forces are attempting to save what they can.

Translation:

We didn't support Tancredo's re-election bid in 2004, preferring challenger Joanna Conti who would have served without Tancredo's polarizing persona and single-item agenda doing anything to deter our effort to build a permanent power base out of a dependant Hispanic underclass.

But Tancredo has worked hard to advance an important issue that others would like to ignore we would have preferred remained ignored, and we believe he can contribute to its resolution by caving in to what we wanted in the first place. Members of the House and Senate have hit a stalemate, but there are 12 million reasons they should forge an agreement potential Democrat votes.

Rove is a genius for . how he stampeded the liberals into falling for the "comprehensive" reform plan, playing upon their animosities towards conservatives and average Americans.

You should have. The Post will endorse conservatives in races where the Democrats have no chance of winning simply so that they can answer complaints about only endorsing liberal candidates/positions by saying, "Well, we endorsed Tancredo too."

"Tancredo has resisted any approach that could provide a path to citizenship for immigrants who fulfill various requirements. That's a cornerstone of the president's plan and the Senate's, and properly so."

gagg me. The VERY reason the Republican party is divided, in a critical election year, is because of Bush, yet everyone BUT Bush is suppose to compromise?

You should have. The media will endorse any Republican :cough, cough: McCain :cough, cough: they think is useful in hurting the party overall. Tancredo has proved he is willing to destroy the GOP so as long as he gets attention.

So, did Tancredo's latest check clear into your bank account?

"An endorsement from the left-wing Denver Post. I did not see that coming."

If they're like the L.A. times there's a simple formula:

Endorse all incumbent Democrats running for reelection.
Endorse Democrats in all open-seat elections.
Endorse some incumbent Republicans who have no chance of losing to appear "balanced" and "open minded."

"Tancredo's polarizing persona"

People who talk like this #1, haven't read the Bible or, #2, don't believe it.

It's all about what's being called "polarization". Separation of the righteous from the wicked.

Man keeps trying to homogenize everybody into one insipid mass. God has been separating the sheep from the goats for a long time, finishing the job in Revelation.

Ive read articles like this countless times. They always start with a claim of being against illegal immigration, continue with a call for a "middle ground" compromise, and end with defining that compromise as McCain-Kennedy. Its pretty transparent. Oh and putting an illegal on a "path to citizenship" even a rigorous it is claimed to be is a reward of the greatest worth. For most of the human race it is next to impossible to get on the path to American citizenship.

"The Senate and President Bush have fashioned comprehensive immigration reform that includes border security, employer sanctions, a guest-worker program and an eventual path to citizenship."

Seems like all this was contained in the last 'comprehensive reform' of immigration laws. How about we actually enforce the law as passed before we 'comprehensively reform' it?

"A time to kick and scream. A time to be pragmatic."

I see it differently from the Denver Post:

A time to stand for the rule of law rather than a time for appeasement of lawbreakers. A time to secure our borders and control immigration rather than a time for flooding our nation with low-skilled hoards of illegal invaders.

I got to play the lottery tonight. If the Post can endorse Tancredo, I can win.

Well, if these people were not brain dead they'd know this "single-item" effects many others.
