President Bush spent the day in
North Carolina
Traveling with the president were Press Secretary Tony Snow and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings
After arriving in Greensboro, NC, the president enjoyed a barbeque lunch at Stameys Restaurant, then visited nearby Waldo C. Falkener Elementary School where he spoke about the No Child Left Behind initiative.
Later, President Bush traveled a few miles further south to visit The Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, NC, then on to speak at a private GOP fundraiser.
Enjoy your Wednesday visit to Sanity Island
Thanks!
Great pics....
Too bad the libs can't appreciate a good man, and a great President!
haha....I want to take him home all the time, but that just doesn't happen! ;-)
I've eaten the pork BBQ there and agree w/Howlin that it is absolutely delicious. President Bush seemed to think so too...even though it's pork, not Texas beef BBQ. Come to NC and try it!
I'd have to see a different picture of their food...
You did great and I know the whew feeling LOL
When we go back to Greensboro, we ALWAYS go there; ate there two weeks ago.
It's CHOPPED barbeque.
Hey--a rare three-way toaster win! Congratulations :)
Do you want that on your toaster?
That picture doesn't capture the colors of the food and the aroma very well. You need to see the real food.
About our October snow storm which broke all records for early snow in Western New York:
The first warning last Thursday was the sound of what we thought were gun shots coming from all directions around us. Then the walloping thumps of trees hitting the ground. Then the electricity went off (and stayed off for six days). I stayed up all night because the electric line in our backyard was hit by several large branches, and if it snapped it could have set fire to the house.
380 THOUSAND houses were w/o electricity. There are still about 75,000 without it.
By Sunday, we were running out of logs for our little wood burner, and frankly, I was getting scared. We scoured the basement for any unused word and burned that. We couldn't get the car out because a large log was blocking the driveway. But a neighbor came over to borrow an extension cord and saw how cold it was here. About ten minutes later, he sent over a whole box of logs, and a box of tinder. Then another neighbor got to a store and got us a box of those wonderful fake logs and next morning still another neighbor delivered another box. And they did it all without our asking. Are we incredibly fortunate to have such neighbors, or what?
Today our yard was filled with men who came all the way from West Virginia, the Allegheny Power Co., and they TURNED THE LIGHTS BACK ON! And that means heat. And you can actually flip a switch on the wall, and the room lights up ! And the furnace comes on. I can hardly believe in this miracle of electricity.
LOL! I just heard a local radio announcer ask if anyone's standing around for ten hours flipping a light switch on and off just because you can.
I'm praying for the people who are still w/o power and may be until next Sunday.
Oh, and on another note, the mayor of Buffalo, through one of his henchmen, is playing politics and blaming FEMA for not getting here soon enough. Heard that somewhere before? But our County Exec says FEMA was here from the beginning and have done a lot to help. Oh, and the national guard is here, too.
Mr Ohio and me are always up for a good barbeque!
What is a chopped barbeque?
O love chopped barbeque --- not messy at all...lol.
A few seconds faster and you woulda won a toaster too :)
5 :)
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddddddddddyyyyyyyyy! :)
***Today I got five choral arrangements submitted to a publishing company***
How WONDERFUL. Much luck. You are SO talented.
You're welcome :)
During our ice storm last year we had no heat or light, but at least we could get in the car and drive to areas that had their power restored so we could warm up!
Thanking the Lord for taking care of you, friend. I really was getting worried about you!
(And LOL! about turning the lights on and off just because you can!)
