Judging from an advance review manuscript of the new work, published by Simon & Schuster and set for release November 14, Carter appears to place the bulk of the blame on Israel for its continuing conflict with the Palestinians. But his critics will probably be most offended by the use of the word apartheid in the title.
The book comes as the Republican Jewish Coalition is already waging a nationwide media campaign to convince Jewish voters that the Democratic Party can no longer be counted on to provide unflinching support for Israel. One of the recent RJC ads features a large image of Carter and quotes the former president as saying I dont think Israel has any legal or moral justification for their massive bombing of the entire nation of Lebanon.
The RJCs executive director, Matt Brooks, told the Forward that he has yet to see the book but seemed confident that it would provide additional ammunition for his organizations campaign to woo Jewish voters.
We certainly have not shied away from shining a light on some of his misguided and outrageous comments about Israel in the past, so we certainly have to see what this book holds, Brooks said. Obviously we will look to key Democratic leaders and hear what they have to say about it. So far, theres been nothing but silence on the part of the Democratic establishment in terms of holding Carter accountable.
The book was originally slated to be released November 1 six days prior to this years congressional elections but will now be available in stores November 14, according to Simon & Schuster spokeswoman Elizabeth Hayes.
Jewish Democrats say that they were pushing for a later release date. But, according to Hayes, the release date was pushed back to allow Carter time to work in more material from last summers conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
We held on to the manuscript because he kept writing because of the whole Lebanon situation so we are running behind schedule, and now we are on stands November 14, Hayes said.
Jimmah, we've had about enough of you. Please go away -
permanently.
Carter is as anti-Semitic as he is anti-American, and that's saying something.
Why can't the moron Carter be more like his predeceesor Gerald Ford where al you hear about him is his latest trip to the hospital?
Can somebody really be that naive to think he really has a positve legacy?
Good grief if I were him I'd found a rock to crawl under till death do us part.
I just want to hear about his final trip to the hospital.
He is also no doubt the beneficiary of some serious petro dollars for his pet causes and the Carter Center. An anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, bought and paid for piece o' slime and lover of dictators. Mr. Peanut is simply loathsome.
Beacause Carter was a failed President, and he knows history will be very harsh on him. Ford on the other hand rescued the nation at a dark time and his legacy will reflect that.
This guy is nuttier than the roots of his family fortune
No wonder he scared Anwar Sadat into seeking a peace agreement

It's pretty bleak.

This should come as no surprise. The man has made a fool of himself for a long time as a pontificating moralizer who cannot distinguish, indeed intentionally doesn't distinguish, between right and wrong. He was the perfect man to arrive on the scene when blurring moral differences, equivalencing (there's no difference between the USA and the USSR (why have an inordinate fear of communism), there is no difference between authoritarianism and totalitarianism - and other gibberish that showed they could not make meaningful distinctions no matter how different a society was), and equivocating were the bogus sign of an educated mind. The man is not only the worst president in our history; he is the worst ex-president. His greatest success is to have caused many Democrats to leave their parents' party. Jimmy Carter says out loud and in public what most leading Democrats only say amongst themselves.
Not just occupation. "Humiliating" occupation.
If she is going to parrot the enemy's propaganda, then brilliant woman that she is, she'll get it exactly right.
Hey, are you talking about Jewish Democrats or the rest of the Democratic Party, who should be asked the same question?
Stick to making furniture, Jimmy. There's a reason why you were overwhelmingly rejected by the voters in '80.
'he knows history will be very harsh on him'
I truly do not think he is smart enough to realize that and he never will be. He and folks like him just go merrily about their task of undermining this wonderful country, and I honestly believe that they think they are doing us all a favor, in some part of their warped little brains.
Now, Kofi, he is smart enough to know that history will treat him with the disdain and disgust that he has earned, but he has made so much money from the starving people of the world, he just doesn't give a damn about anyone's opinions.
When his grandchildren change their names to hide their heritage, I hope he is looking up from his hell, to see it.
Carter continues to be the putz we knew him to be as President.
