I think this means that via taxation we are paying for the police to CONSIDER responding to dire, life-and-death emergencies.

Do I have that right?

Well, he wasn't in the car, his aid was running errands for him in NJ and was beaten and carjacked.

The cops' only duty is to preserve order and investigate crime. No cop has the duty to protect you. Many fine cops do and some sadly die trying but no actual obligation exists, legally.

"To serve and protect" is more marketing than anything else.

Thanks to the liberals, there will be more victims. It comes with liberalism, since its like the weather. Notice how they boast government will help and then turn around to disclaim responsibility when it can't do a thing for you? Liberalism is schizophrenic on public safety.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled this way over and over again.

Our lives are our own responsibilities. End of story.

Exactly! That's as it ought to be in a free country. But tell me why liberals fight so hard to make it nearly impossible for people to take charge of their own lives, including the RKBA for their own self-defense? Liberal policy, especially the one on guns, does not compute like everything else about it.

Our lives are our own responsibilities. End of story.

So why are we wasting our tax money on cops that won't protect us if we need it?

The other day I saw one man threatening another in traffic with a KNIFE. I called 911 and was put on hold. I continued to hold 5 min or more, and by then the fight was over.

I never heard a human voice on the line.

"Why do they have "Protect and Serve" on their cars?"

They protect the tax funding that pays their wages, and serve some more donuts.

abso - f'n lutely....why does NJ have the highest taxes in the nation...there are more cops that do nothing but sit around and write traffic tickets...if they won't do their jobs ...can them all....it is not as if the crime levels will change...just ask the lib/dem candidate about crime...oh wait...he is under federal investigation!!!!

Yup, what a shame. Funny, same day this judge says the police do not protect us. ROFL.

We could have told him that decades ago. Kinda why we keep fighting them from trying to take our weapons from us.

Because politicians keep calling for "More cops on the streets!"

People who take on the the responsibility of their own lives have a less chance of becoming "victims."

Liberals can only exist if there are a large number of "victims" begging for Big Brother to come to their aid. So they seek to put us in a position where we will become victims...

If their jobs are principally going to be to enforce regulations and not peace keeping then I say I don't need them if their first duty is to write tickets.

Here in Houston violent crime has been permitted to run unchecked (and violent offenders are not being prosecuted including carjackers who kidnap their victims).

I don't need the Sheriff of Nottingham shaking down the populace.

That's good for the police union vote.

So, why do we have cops guarding politicians and coaches?
