Our enemies are playing with our politics. A large attack would hurt Bush right here. It would be a slap.

You nailed it kinghorse! That is my feeling as well. I think people need to wake up and realize that an attack no longer spells good fortune for conservatives. A concerted effort years in the making has successfully convinced the world (including almost 3/4 of Americans) that George Bush is to blame for all of this chaos. And unfortunately he has played right into their hands by not securing our ports and borders. So ANY attack in the US will immediately be blamed on him and the "failure of the current administration" Period. And that's why I think that there is a decent chance that something major will happen before the elections.

I don't want to turn this into a mutual admiration society-but you nailed it again! While I want to believe that the country will rally around the Prez-which they still may, or at least most will. There is a nagging feeling that this will hurt our President. I am not really worried about politics here (not in a strict sense) I am worried about his ability to lead our nation in a severe crisis-not that he is not a great leader-talking about being hamstrung. To hell with the election, if there is a devastating attack the mid terms take a backseat to continued solid focused leadership. That, of course being said, would be difficult with dem control. On the other hand if the attacks are as bad as warned the country (I pray) will unite.

Another red flag is the reported "cycle of warnings" from Al-Qeada. If you have an understanding of Islam and Jihad- ones enemies need to be warned three times. only then will the killing of noncombatants be acceptable. If the warnings are not heeded-so be it. I know I simplified it but the point is solid. The cycle of warnings HAS been followed and the bad guys have religious go aheads from some radical Imams....Why would AL-Qeada risk its credibility and not follow through on what they threaten?!!?
