I have to question the intelligence of those who think people will be driven to vote by insults.
If they can't understand there are two clear choices, neither being perfect, but one much closer than the other, they deserve to be insulted.
Any conservative that does not vote Republican this election deserves to be insulted.
I have to question the intelligence of those who believe that it is "principled" to punish the the GOP by allowing the GOP to lose, which allows the REAL enemy to win.
This is my purely mercenary analysis of the situation.
As WC Fields once said, "I never vote for anyone; I always vote against." While hardcore voters won't be swayed from the straight party ticket, it's the "WC Fields" vote that wins elections.
Normally, the Democrats are an easy target to oppose. The problem for Republicans is that their performance to date has been so abysmal that most people want to vote against Democrats and Republicans, in equal measure. They want what the Republicans could bring, but don't, and that's a hard sell when you're an incumbent defending your seat. "But my opponent would be worse" is normally a pretty effective argument, but you can negate that advantage by your own incompetence.
Candidates can't just point the alternative is worse. You have to make them feel it. Voters have to feel less disgust when looking at a Republican than a Democrat, in order to pull the lever for them. Right now, most voters aren't feeling it.
Of course, insulting said voters, on top of failing to deliver for them, won't make you any yardage. Calling people stupid for not voting a certain way is another step towards a well earned defeat.
Good point. Tell me why I SHOULD vote for the canidate, not why I SHOULD NOT vote for the other one.
Well, he did call it the Stupid Party.
a caller actually said it correctly on Rush yesterday...he called them CUT AND RUN REPUBICANS
"I have to question the intelligence of those who think people will be driven to vote by insults."
Well it's a well known fact that you catch more flies with vinegar than with hon.....wait a minute, that's not right!
You are of course correct. They try scare tactics. Now insults. Frankly I am going to vote and vote conservative. Just so happens in my area, that means Republican. But if there were a more conservative candidate/party out there with a chance of winning....yes I would vote for them.
The leaders of the Republican party in Congress aren't stupid. They are sincere believers in big government, which, of course, often provides special benefits to them and their friends.
I will side with you on this one.
I also take issue with anyone who calls the Republican Party the "Stupid Party".
Republicans and Independents who support the conservative movement are far from stupid nor are they intellectually inferior to Liberal Democrats.
BINGO!
What I have noticed is that when we are called names, the resistance gets stiffer and even more people join us. A lot more people are on the edge, torn between voting their conscience and the guilt of possibly allowing a dem takeover. But when the insults fly, these voters choose not to side with the insulters.
I have to question the intelligence of those who don't vote.
