No thanks, we're stupid...... (conservatives who stay home)
Wash Times ^ | October 18, 2006 | Tony Blankley

John Stuart Mill once famously called the British Tories "The Stupid Party." From time to time since then, the Tory's American cousin, the Republican Party, has also earned that moniker. Now may be one of those moments. If current polls and anecdotes are to be believed, there may be a million or two conservative Republicans who are planning to not vote this November. Of course, Mill also said that : "A person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but also by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury." Apparently, these anticipated conservative non-voters are annoyed with Republican imperfection. They are disheartened, disappointed, disillusioned, distempered, dismal -- and thus plan to dis the party that better advances conservative principles in government. They appear to have fallen victim to the false syllogism: 1) Something must be done; 2) not voting is something; therefore, 3) I will not vote. Of course the fallacy of the syllogism is that the second category could be anything. For example, number two could as well read "eating dog excrement is something." I rather suspect that they will feel about the same afterward, whether they chose the non-voting option or the scatological one. They are both equally illogical -- and repulsive -- and would deserve the moniker, "Stupid." Here are some tell-tale signs of the sort of person who would vote (or not vote) to cause the election of a party which would act to defeat every value and interest he holds dear (merely because the party that will at least try to advance most of those issues has not done as well as he might havehoped) ...............

A conservative would have to be just that stupid to stay home on Nov. 7.

I have heard it put around that the Republicans need a couple of years in the wilderness to regain their conservative bearings.

While turning over the Congress to the Pelosi/Kennedy mob for even two years would be recklessly irresponsible -- particularly during a dangerous war -- there is no assurance the wilderness years would last only twenty-four months.

PLEASE ping your lists on this one! Thanks...

"I have to question the intelligence of those who think people will be driven to vote by insults."

Well it's a well known fact that you catch more flies with vinegar than with hon.....wait a minute, that's not right!

You are of course correct. They try scare tactics. Now insults. Frankly I am going to vote and vote conservative. Just so happens in my area, that means Republican. But if there were a more conservative candidate/party out there with a chance of winning....yes I would vote for them.

"The same geniuses voted for Ross Perot and gave us the Clintons for eight years and possibly the presidency of Hillary! as their rancid legacy lives on. Stupidity of that magniture is hard to top."

Those geniuses would counter that were it not for "no new taxes" being, well...."not so true" they would have re-elected 41.

Except possible for the Connecticut US Senate, where in the country is the Republican not the most conservative candidate with a chance to win???

You're right. Vote Democrat. They've always been for tight border security and traditional marriage and reducing the size of government and following the constitution.

Not Democrats, and now not Republicans. Look at Arnold. Yechh. Would you ask me to vote for him? I'd rather move to Colorado and eject California from the union.

Speaker Pelosi? Gag me with a spoon. Literally.

What does Speaker Pelosi, 3RD IN LINE FOR PRESIDENCY, do for you? :o)

So you have voted for Democrats.

I've not voted for Democrats and I haven't become one either. I'm not too sure you can say that about the Republicans.

Do something about the border, or forget ever again being the majority party.

LMAO - and the demo party is gung ho to do something, eh? Like open the gates wider?

Ruth Bader Ginsbery is holding off her retirement because she does not want a GWBush nominee for her replacement. (she is the justice who wants the age of consent down to 12. That will get the homosexuals all excited)

Same for Justice Kennedy holding off retirement.

This election IS about the OPPORTUNITY presented.

THERE IS NO POLITICAL WILDERNESS, just win or lose.
LIFE or DEATH. (electorally)

If anybody EVER wanted to eliminate the democrat party THIS IS OUR CHANCE!

Imagine a world without the Democrat Party!!!!!!!!
NO MORE DEMOCRAT PARTY! IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES!!!!

Read your own words below:

I haven't voted for a Democrat in years.

You didn't say you have never voted for Democrats.

The leaders of the Republican party in Congress aren't stupid. They are sincere believers in big government, which, of course, often provides special benefits to them and their friends.

What a coincidence...I question the intelligence of people that think giving power to the Democratic Party will help conservatism.

What are you smoking?!?! If I were into that kind of stuff, I'd want some.

We have 4, I repeat, 4, conservative SC justices. That isn't a majority.

It's also worth noting that 100% of the D appointees voted for Kelo, and the two R's who did were both confirmed by a D controlled Senate (an overwhelmingly D senate in Stephen's case), one of them right after all these PRINCIPLED CONSERVATIVES stayed home in 1986 and handed the Senate to the D's, thus, defeating Robert Bork.

Oh, I know, the R's had 6 years to make good in the Senate, and they 'failed' to make you happy. Anyhow, Ted Kennedy thanks your kind for defeating Robert Bork and handing us the squishy Anthoney Kennedy on a platter.

Please re-read my post. I used the word "if" in a very strategic place in my post that you either missed on accident or on purpose.
