John Stuart Mill once famously called the British Tories "The Stupid Party." From time to time since then, the Tory's American cousin, the Republican Party, has also earned that moniker. Now may be one of those moments. If current polls and anecdotes are to be believed, there may be a million or two conservative Republicans who are planning to not vote this November. Of course, Mill also said that : "A person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but also by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury." Apparently, these anticipated conservative non-voters are annoyed with Republican imperfection. They are disheartened, disappointed, disillusioned, distempered, dismal -- and thus plan to dis the party that better advances conservative principles in government. They appear to have fallen victim to the false syllogism: 1) Something must be done; 2) not voting is something; therefore, 3) I will not vote. Of course the fallacy of the syllogism is that the second category could be anything. For example, number two could as well read "eating dog excrement is something." I rather suspect that they will feel about the same afterward, whether they chose the non-voting option or the scatological one. They are both equally illogical -- and repulsive -- and would deserve the moniker, "Stupid." Here are some tell-tale signs of the sort of person who would vote (or not vote) to cause the election of a party which would act to defeat every value and interest he holds dear (merely because the party that will at least try to advance most of those issues has not done as well as he might havehoped) ...............

They already figured that out LAST time.
I suspect that's why you all are squealing like stuck pigs.
Like I said before, it's amazing what a good swift kick in the butt will do.
Enjoy your irrelevancy.
My point was that as screwed up as MA is, no conservative has a prayer regardless of their party affiliation.
For a state that blue, the GOP has to be liberal to maintain any presence at all. Pretty much the same for CT. That's not the GOP in MA's fault, that is the fault of the MA voters.
I don't blame you for switching to independent at all. So would I. But, even a liberal Republican is better than a Democrat.
Reagan carried MA both times. And if no one makes the argument, no one hears it. The liberals here are loud, but most of the people I know in Boston are either conservative or not very political. Many of the non-political are conservative in their leanings but don't know enough to put that name on it.
I do agree with that.
How can a political issue become irrelevant? Illegal immigration will not stop affecting the nation if you ignore it. California will not cease morphing into a banana republic if you shut out the people who complain about it. Burying your head in the sand does not make the world go away.
Tbis is one thread --- there will be more.
This is cool; now we have a list to consult for future reference concerning just WHO is and isn't with us!
LOL --- it's a start.
And exactly what will YOU be able to do about it if you help take the ONLY party that is trying to do something about it out of power?
Libertarians also have the virtue of being reliably principled people who have taken the trouble to study many of the things that matter and to react accordingly. I have my disagreements with some of their conclusions.
There are also those (libertarian or otherwise)who prattle on reflexively attacking what they call "neo-cons" who are more accurately called "conservatives." Paleo-pacifism is NOT conservatism. Conservatives are grown-ups.
We are less than three weeks from a very dangerous election. If the GOP wins, Hastert and Boehner should probably go. We need more charismatic and principled leadership. We need wartime generals in House and Senate. If the GOP loses, we need new leadership even more so, the Demonrats should get not one moment of "honeymoon" and our attacks must be relentless.
I concur.
After a surprise coup in the Senate Leadership contest (Senator Harry Reid's whereabouts are still unknown as well as the whereabouts of Senators Joe Lieberman, Ben Nelson, and Bill Nelson, new Senate Majority Leader Charles (Chuckie) Schumer, riding with top assistants Senator Tom Harkin, Senator Barbara Boxer and new Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Edward M. (hic!) Kennedy, preceded Pelosi's vehicle and entourage. The actual swearing in of the Hldebeast was performed by Madame Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg when the Chief Justice was taken suddenly ill at the very thought of what was being inaugurated. Ms. Ginsberg also presented the new President with her resignation from the SCOTUS and those of Ms. Justice Souter and Mr. Justice John Paul Stephens as inauguration presents to allow Mrs. Antichrist to appoint her husband as Chief Justice and two 35-year old refugees from sanity as her first presidential appointments.....
I suggest you reread my posts sir, and not post while under the influence. I never miss an election, don't plan on it.
Also, read exactly where I said I don't plan on voting for evil, that most definitely includes most Dim candidates.

"Lets remember, were Free Republic, not some wanna be site, and certainly, were not some liberal chat site. Lets keep our standards high. Strive for excellence. For the most part, we are educated, responsible adults. A simple comment to that effect will suffice. We don't need to see F*** or s***. The English language is a great tool; learn to use it. It really lowers your credibility as a poster when you resort to profanity and flames. It takes finesse to make your point without using these tactics." -- Admin Moderator
Having not missed an election since I was just a few months over 18 and voting for Reagan (if you had bothered to read my post you would of known this), I don't see where I once inferred I would skip voting. I just said I would not vote the lesser of two evils as Biblically commanded. I posted scripture, you have not done anything but misquote and curse.
You obvious need to clean up your act for the parties sake (and FR's). Good day sir.
Congrajulations,
You ignored my entire reply and just took something I said entirely out of context. I'll grade you on the curve; here is an F+.
