Boxing promoter Don King yesterday campaigned with Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in Prince George's County and Baltimore, telling black voters to support Mr. Steele's U.S. Senate candidacy even though he is a Republican.
"For black people, there can't be a fealty to party. That's not fidelity to truth," said Mr. King, a Republican.
With his trademark hair standing straight up, Mr. King appeared with Mr. Steele at a cafe in Largo Town Center and then on a street corner in West Baltimore. The two then visited a youth boxing center.
Mr. King criticized the state Democratic Party for not promoting black leaders.
"You don't have any black faces on the Democratic ticket," Mr. King said. "John Kennedy said sometimes party loyalty asks too much."

Michael Steele PING
I'm ecstatic that he is helping Steele!!
I hope so; Steele was an awesome speaker at the Convention in 04 and seems like such an upstanding individual. A great role model for kids, and a good man. Lets hope we can take MD. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we lose PA and Montanna (both of which I hope we keep) but then wash that loss away with pick-ups in MD and NJ?
Michael Steele's ex-brother-in-law is Mike Tyson.
you won't see it in any polls - if it happens, there will be a hidden vote for steele amongst the african american middle class voters in MD. no matter what the polls show, Steele needs to campaign hard there.
Good point. Steele has some nice commericals out that are clever and disarming.
the RNC better help this guy to the end - he is our best shot at an "upset" gain in the senate.
Where did you pick up that information? I did not know that and am surprised that the very liberal Baltimore Sun did not point that out to pooh-pooh Tyson's support.

Not sure of Tyson with a Steel t-shirt helps though.
Don't say that around Mike. He might bite your ear off.
Thank you! That is an interesting tidbit...
