Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton asserted yesterday that the Bush administrations failings in foreign and domestic policy were so great that Republican and independent voters would help Democrats win control of Congress in the Nov. 7 elections.
Mrs. Clinton also endorsed the Democratic candidate for attorney general, Andrew M. Cuomo, and took a jab at his opponent and her own onetime rival Jeanine F. Pirro. Mr. Cuomo and Ms. Pirro continued battling in the intermission between their debates Sunday and today.
Mrs. Clinton, speaking to several hundred women at the fall lunch of the Eleanor Roosevelt Legacy Committee at a Midtown hotel, said that Republicans and independents have been steadily telling her that they want to support Democrats because of what she called the extremist right-wing tilt of the party.
They didnt sign up for an Iraq war that has been beset by strategic blunders and mistake after mistake, Mrs. Clinton said. They didnt sign up for the Taliban and Al Qaeda resurging in Afghanistan. She also said that the Bush administration had stumbled in dealing with Iran and in preventing nuclear proliferation in North Korea.
She drew a standing ovation when she said that a Democratic takeover of Congress would help ensure that the president and the vice president are not above the law, where we hold them to standards that we expect the rest of the world to follow and set an example.
In recent weeks, former President Bill Clinton, too, has been offering similar talking points to Democrats about Iraq and foreign policy, and encouraging the sort of confident and rousing campaign performances that Mrs. Clinton turned in yesterday.
During a campaign visit to Iowa on Saturday, Mr. Clinton also said that the Republican Party had moved away from its roots by embracing an extreme and right- wing agenda.

No Pathetic Liars Barf Alert!!!!
And let's not forget, her other special constituents, convicted felons.
Is that true. Only if they stay at home. I don't know any true Republicans that would vote to help lift a Clinton anywhere.
And dont forget a few pardoned terrorists...
When you remove the over sampling of democrats from the polls, the Republicans are doing just fine.
So much for Hillary being the smartest woman in the world. She can't even do elementary math!
Thus Spake Pantsuitthustra.
THIS is "The Smartest Woman In The World"? She wasn't even the smartest woman in the Oval Office when Monica was there.
This shrill fool Hillary claims the Republican party is embracing a "right-wing" agenda? I wish that were true! If it were, the Republicans would be GAINING large numbers of seats on November 7th....
This headline should read: "Hillary's on more than one kind of crack."
I'm fed up with DBM prognostications of Democrat Glory on election day. And Hillary Clinton making predictions is laughable. MOST upsetting are conservative pre-mortems.
All of it does nothing but fire my jets to get to the pools on Election Day and vote for every Conservative Republican I can find.
Her saying that probably helped spur on 100 more Republicans to vote...against the Dem party. Thanks, Hillary.
Not true. But she's counting on those that really can't do the math.
Oh yes, convicted felons have not been in the headlines recently, so many special groups to remember.
Yep, and let's hope the majority feels the same way. Republicans I know are ready, willing, and able to kick some democrat butt this election.
From her mouth to Satan's ears.
In this election, there needs to be intense (microscopic) scrutiny at all polling places. The Liberals are out to cheat in every way possible. They have no scruples.
Remove the over sampling of democrats first. Then, Zogby said to always add at least 5 points to the Republican side. That should make up for those democrats who claim "I'm a Republican and I voted for Bush, but......."
