The religious leaders they will reach are the ones they will crush upon gaining power.

Yep. Those two words ("common good") never cease to send a cold shiver up my spine. Maybe it's because nothing non-catostrophic has ever come from them.

Everyone should help out others, and everyone should contribute to the common good.

But one of the worst ways of accomplishing these objectives is through a government bureaucracy.

The people who are doing the most for the common good of our country and our civilization at the moment are active duty troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. The people who are doing least are corrupt government elitists like Kerry, Reid, and Kennedy.

"Are Democrats stepping out of the Socialist/Communist closet?"

They are here in Minnesota. Notice the Soldiers of Solidarity banner right beneath the Minnesota Democratic link and the DSCC link. They're not so quiet about it here.

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to ascend into Heaven,” [Matthew 19:24]

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" [Matthew 5:3]

You can be rich but be poor in spirit.

Pelosi Says Bush’s Failed Economic Policies Are Pillaging Government Coffers

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released a statement denouncing President Bush’s economic policies. “While President Bush continues to trumpet his so-called ‘economic achievements,’ the fact is his wanton tax cuts are pillaging the public treasury,” Pelosi said. “Funds that should rightfully be in the hands of the government have been turned back to private interests under the elitist notion that money belongs to those who’ve earned it.”

“A nation is a social enterprise,” Pelosi continued. “The outputs are the collective property of all. It is the job of congress to use these outputs for the benefit of the nation.”

Pelosi ridiculed what she called “Bush’s naïve theory that profits encourage investment. Profits expropriate the bread created by the working classes. So-called entrepreneurs and investors are just fancy terms for people who are really looters.”

“Democrats will bring a more humane economic policy to the country,” Pelosi promised. “Under our plan, each person will be asked to contribute to the full extent of his or her ability. In return, the government will take care to ensure that each person receives what he or she needs.”

Pelosi characterized the separation between so-called private and public property “an artificial distinction without moral value. Ultimately, all property and income are public. It is shameful that some are permitted to have more than they need while others suffer from want. Given sufficient support by voters this November, we intend to fix that.”

“Democrats propose a New Direction to provide real tax help to hard-pressed families, which will inject demand into our economy, spur economic growth that will produce jobs, and reduce the deficit, and we will do it in a fiscally responsible way.”

We have gone about as far as we can go with one size fits all programs designed to promote someone's idea of the common good. People still need to love their neighbors and help out those wh need help. With high taxes aren't we already sharing sacrifice?

I am noticing that Progressives are international. They are in England and France, too.

Liberals are just fine with mixing politics with religion just so long as you think Jesus was a commie.

Thou shall not covet thy neighbors' good. The Democrats are all coveting all the time. Liberal economic policy is all about coveting. Coveting to fill every need and desire. Coveting other people's money to pay food, housing education, housing, health care. Anything and everything. Somehow liberals/Democrats have managed to cloak themselves in the moral high-ground in the eyes of millions by cloaking themselves in the evil of covetousness. The key to destroying them is exposing their do-goodedness for the sin that it is.

"Liberals are just fine with mixing politics with religion just so long as you think Jesus was a commie."

Exactly.

How "Progressive" Christians see Jesus.

“Most mainline Protestant churches are, to one degree or another, post-Christian. If they no longer seem disposed to converting the unbelieving to Christ, they can at least convert them to the boggiest of soft-left political clichés, on the grounds that if Jesus were alive today he’d most likely be a gay Anglican bishop in a committed relationship driving around in an environmentally friendly car with an ‘Arms Are for Hugging’ sticker on the way to an interfaith dialogue with a Wiccan and a couple of Wahhabi imams.” ~ Mark Steyn

So according to the Democrats, Jesus wants us all to follow his example and be good communists? Somehow I don't think that Jesus' message was to let Big Government take over our lives and do our thinking for us, but I really don't believe that the Democrats mean any of this anyway. Their newfound interest in Christian morality is just one more smelly turd in their already giant, steaming pile of bull****.

A word of warning to those Democrats who are telling us that God wants us to be good socialists:

2nd Commandment -- Thou shall not swear falsely by the name of God.

According to Jewish and Christian teaching, to misappropriate God’s name and His words for false purposes amounts to dishonoring God and is strictly forbidden. If the Democrats really believe their new Christian jargon, they should be afraid for the future of their souls by violating this commandment.
