Reid Decides to Amend Ethics Reports (If It's All a Republican Plot Harry, Why Do This??)
Breitbart.com ^ | JOHN SOLOMON

Posted on 10/16/2006 12:39:10 PM PDT by MikeA

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid announced Monday he is amending his ethics reports to Congress to more fully account for a land deal that allowed him to collect $1.1 million for property he hadn't personally owned for three years.

Reid acted several days after The Associated Press reported the senator didn't disclose to Congress that he first sold the land to a friend's company back in 2001 and took an ownership stake in the company. He didn't collect the seven-figure payout until the company sold the land again in 2004 to others.

Reid said his amended ethics reports will list the 2001 sale.

"I directed my staff to file amended financial disclosure forms noting that in 2001, I transferred title to the land to a Limited Liability Corporation," Reid said in a statement issued by his office.

Reid said he believed the 2001 sale did not alter his ownership of the land but that he agreed to file the amended reports because "I believe in ensuring all facts come to light."

Reid blamed the AP story as a "latest attempt" by Republicans to affect the election. AP reported last week that it learned of the land deal from a former Reid adviser who had concerns about the way the deal was reported to Congress.

Reid also announced he failed to disclose two other land transactions on his prior ethics reports and would account for those on his amended reports.

And now the Clown Car Media will let this die and get back to allowing the DemoCrites to attack the Republicans on ethics without the burden of having to answer for their own. Of course Foley resigning from Congress wasn't enough to mollify the DemoCrites and the Clown Car Media puppets, but Reid making a "a little too little and a little too late" move like this will be enough for the media to say "Nothing more to see here. Move on."

Gotta love Dummy Harry trying to blame this on the GOP when it was a member of his own staff that nailed him. LOL. Of course the DemoDummies will buy that swill lock, stock and barrel.

It'll never be covered by the DBM anyway. Now I'm getting all kinds of stories on Weldon's(PA) daughter!

The ONLY way anything will come of this is if he is brought up in front of the ethics committee and loudly rebuked!

Then...MAYBE something stick with the MSM protecting democrats.

AP reported last week that it learned of the land deal from a former Reid adviser who had concerns about the way the deal was reported to Congress.

Good for reporter, Solomon, to point out that the information came from a former Reid staffer, not the Republican smear campaign.

A million here, a million there. What's the big deal?
Harry Reid's a US Senator so we shouldn't care. In fact, we shouldn't even ask questions.

Let's try a better headline for this story: Harry Reid admits filing false ethics reports, avoiding rules of Congress.

Now, now, now, how do you know that this hasn't been on his 'to do' list for sometime now and has nothing to do with the newspaper reports?

Old Harry does the honorable thing, (for a politician)and claims that his staff will fix the problem, implying that it was their oversight that caused the problem in the first place. Oh, and he has found out that they also missed a couple more land deals. Thanks, AP, for pointing it out to us. I'll get right on it. End of story.

You can bet if this was Bill Frist, that headline you posited would be PRECISELY the headline the Clown Car Media would be using.

For years we have heard the Dems complain about various companies getting "obscene" profits. Investing $400,000 and getting back $1,100,000 a few years later, in my mind, is really an "obscene" profit. For every dollar he got, someone gave up a dollar. That dollar will be recovered from higher prices or rates to consumers in the area of the project. Where is the outrage?

Oh so while he is at making this the unnecessary modification of a sale where he thinks it was basically accurate anyway, he is going to change details of two other land transactions on his reporting forms.

In other words, there was persistent and pervasive fraud committed by the 'Honorable' Senator Reid.

".....to more fully account for a land deal...."

To more TRUTHFULLY account for the land deal....

Fixed..

That is too precious for words, but Harry will keep trying to convince us, nonetheless.

No one in the Republican Party put a gun to his head to make Harry play fast and loose with those land deals! Honest Harry...yeah right!

Let me get this straight..HE FORGOT to report a million dollars? So he'll just report it now and all will be fine? OK, let's all remember that at tax time. When the IRS comes and takes you away in handcuffs, tell them about the REID precedent. UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE. But you know what really is amazing to me? A Democrat gets caught, and HE becomes indignant? HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?

How?
Reid is aided and abetted in the parallel world of the moonbat/drive by media. I can't explain it. I can only marvel at the naivete and gullibility of the general public.
