NEW YORK — Country music might seem like a pretty conservative medium, but Tim McGraw is bucking the trend. "It's innate in me to be a Democrat — a true Southern populist kind of Democrat. There's not a lot of those anymore," McGraw tells Time magazine in its Oct. 23 issue.
"The issues that matter to me are the social safety nets for people, health care, middle-class concerns. We need to take care of the middle class and the poor in our country. The chasm is getting larger between haves and have-nots, and that's something we need to close down a little bit," says the singer and star of "Flicka."
Could that mean a McGraw on an election ticket soon?
"One of these days, if the opportunity's there, that's something I'd love to do," he says. "It's a high calling to serve the community, and if you can do it, I think you should."

Most entertainers are socialists or closet socialists. I always get a kick out of people here saying how much they like "so-and-so" entertainer and how they must be a conservative.
What you see on stage is an act. That's how they get people who work for a living to give them money.
It's OK to be entertained when you watch the little Marxist monkeys sing, dance, and do tricks. But don't idolize them.

That's a pretty accurate assessment. Every time someone's time is up, they pack 'em off to Nashville and reinvent them as "country."
So true. It sounds so good if he were still a good ole boy in Mississippi or where ever but with his earning power he should start now and demand that his (and Faith's) CDs sell for half price or less and cut the movie price in half as well. But alas, he may believe in the good ole capitalist economy for himself and socialist system for the "common man".
Tim, keep your hat on and keep singing and you can think whatever makes you feel like a good person. But when you start to actually think, then you can start telling us maybe.
I stopped watching it about partway through. I didn't catch any real bashing up to that point (I believe you)..who was doing it?
Generally, I hate fundraisers like that, because I'd rather they all told us how much they gave, instead of putting together some silly skits. Also, as a mother of an autistic child, it just all feels so fake and useless.
Translation: Income redistribution.
I didn't watch much of it but it went about as expected when Moby took the stage. Jon Stewart was his usual self.
I'm not the type of person to throw fits when comedians take jabs at a president. Presidents have always been the target of jokes but in recent years the jokes have become just plain nasty and vicious.

While I agree the gap is widening it isn't widening by unscrupulous means. For example: poor guy and rich guy both can buy an investment the returns ten percent. The poor guy invests 1,000, the rich guy 1,000,000. That 10% means the poor guy after a year has 1,100, the rich guy 1,100,000.
A 99,000 increase in the gap, with equal access to the investment.
Yeah...to me it all began with Garth Brooks "Bon Jovi" style concerts in the very early 90s...91-92 that set the trend and you could see where the lighting directors and band members from Kix, Keel,Warrant,L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat were headed shortly as "cock rock" went down by the fists of Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Primus.

I call on all the nation's lib millionaires and billionaires to donate a goodly share of their dough to all the poor, deserving unfortunates who probably make up about oh say 93% of the population according to dopes like McGraw.
