One giant step for home entertainment? Last updated at 10:48am on 16th October 2006

Is this the way we will all be 'enjoying' our television programmes and computer games in the future?

In this astonishing photo, a model is wearing a new gadget, from electronics manufacturer Toshiba, that enables the wearer to experience a full 360-degree view on a 40 centimetre dome-shaped screen.

But, looking more like the helmet from Neil Armstrong's space suit than the next must-have gizmo, this three kilo full-faced helmet might make it a little tricky to relax with a drink in front of the football...

That is the funniest pictures ive seen in months.

They are going to have to do better than that, reminds me of the big old cell phones...in time they will get smaller
I suspect.

Seems like the 180 degree model would have been sufficient...Maybe this one comes with an extra set of eyes for the back of your head...

"...a new gadget, from electronics manufacturer Toshiba, that enables the wearer to experience a full 360-degree view on a 40 centimetre dome-shaped screen."

Only 40 centimeters? Heck, I want one like Darth Vader had aboard that Super Star Destroyer - large enough that it drops down over me and my recliner. Then, when switched off, it retracts into the ceiling.

When you're the Galactic Emperor's right-hand man, you know that you'll have some sweet home theater gear. And here you all probably thought ol' Darth was up to his usual Dark-Side stuff in there, when in fact he was just viewing Rebel Girls Gone Wild XXXXVII - Degoba Mud-Wrestling Mania. All of that heavy breathing should've clued you in. :-D

Well, here's a decidedly low-tech solution:

Better compare the width of that headgear with that of your bathroom doorway, too. Or keep a bucket handy.

Thanks, your're so right, but can't wait, found out browsing Amazon Fisker's sells a really cool one at Ace Hardware.

Will pick it up on the way home.

Back to the Golden Age of drilling for me.

From the comments about it on Amazon everyone else loves it too!
