Pakistan foils coup plot By Syed Saleem Shahzad
KARACHI - A plot to stage a coup against Pakistan's President General Pervez Musharraf soon after his recent return from the US has been uncovered, resulting in the arrest of more than 40 people.
Most of those arrested are middle-ranking Pakistani Air Force officers, while civilian arrests include a son of a serving brigadier in the army. All of those arrested are Islamists, contacts in Rawalpindi, where the military is based, divulged to Asia Times Online.
The conspiracy was discovered through the naivety of an air force > officer who this month used a cell phone to activate a high-tech rocket aimed at the president's residence in Rawalpindi. The rocket was recovered, and its activating mechanism revealed the officer's telephone number. His arrest led to the other arrests.
Other rockets were then recovered from various high security zones, including the headquarters of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in Islamabad.

A vague but very important point. Unfortunately, I assume they mean that the other rockets were recovered in a stored condition as opposed to set up to fire at ISI... He's got a lot of enemies and they only need to get it right once.
Things aren't completely depressing though, they arrested a guy named Shah Mehboob. That's a pretty good porn name!

This is the jihadi version of writing the holdup note on a deposit slip from your checkbook.
Free Republic needs to sponsor an award similar to the Darwin Awards for guys like this. We could name it after the World Trade Center truck bomber who was caught when he went back to get the deposit back on the blown-up truck.

My wife is a Baha'i, an offshoot of Islam that Jihadi's consider heresy and, for them, worse than being a pagan, a Christian or (ack) a Jew, and I am well versed in the issues involved. In the Baha'i faith they have a prophecy that the Muslims will do something to become the most hated people on the planet and they will pay the price for whatever it is that they do to draw that hatred. I think we see that scenario playing out right now. the Baha'is also have a prophecy that we'll come "this close" to Armageddon and then go "wait a minute... we don't want to do THAT!"
I hope that they have a pipeline to The Man on this one, folks. Remember, unlike the Muslims, Christians have never said that Jesus was the last revelation. We have said that there was no reason for most of the revelations that came before anymore, but not that God was done with us. The Imams and Mahdi's have said that they are the last word and that anyone saying anything new must be stomped on big time. After Jesus most of what truly needed to be said has been said, but we don't kill people who say that they are still getting messages from God, unlike our friends in the turbans, who really, really don't like the idea of any other prophets. That right there tells me much of what I need to know about them and their version of truth (they ain't got it).
I believe there is a contingency for that if hes overthrown. loose lips sink ships though.

A Khomeini taking over Pakistan; the implications are enormous.
Perhaps one of these high security zones will reveal Bin Laden.
This could have presented an excellent pretext for us to seize their nuclear weapons.
