Not this year friend!!!! You're really going out on a limb with that bold assertion... ;)
To: madison10
No Lions this year. Just Tigers and Bears.
To: SevenofNine
Many have this impression of Detroit.
However, there were no riots after the recent NBA and NHL championships. In fact, the police reported **FEWER** arrests during the celebrations than a normal night.
Detroit may be a nasty city, but they truly have shown in recent years how to properly celebrate a championship.

Where's the bold assertion????? The Tigers have a shot at the winning the World Series this year, the Yankees have NONE!!!

Probably soon - now, imagine if they had LOST - they don't need an excuse to riot! For my son, GO, METS!

"You are Yankees material."
We take that as a compliment, too!

Trust me. It will come back to it's rightful owners.
I can't make any claim to "Rightful" but it will come to rest with the best team in baseball........And after poohooing them from their home town all season, I am proud to say they are the real deal. Go Tigers!

Why should I correct it. I said they HAVE none. That is present tense. Since they were eliminated by the Tigers they HAVE NONE. I did not bring up what chances they HAD, only those chances they HAVE. Relax, I like the Yankees but I am from Michigan and so are the Tigers.

i love this.
there is a deep satisfaction at being the perpetual target of such cheap shots.
As Ari Fleisher once said (with a gleam in his eye), when asked by an idiot reporter about why the president is "so unpopular:"
There's nothing wrong with being hated, as long as you're hated by the right people!"
It's great to be a winning team. Even if you lose once a while.

I am SO GLAD that the Tigers whipped the Yankee's butts. They are cocky as all get out and need to get the we-should-have-won-the-pennant smirk off their faces. ;)

I don't think anyone actually answered your question. I don't know if he still does, but Lolich had a handful of donut shops in the burbs. There was one at the corner of Walton and Main in Rochester for years. Sometimes he'd be in there, really early in the morning.
It was a great little hole in the wall. Four two-seater tables, four booths at the counter, nice, quiet little place. The name (and possibly the ownership) changed sometime in the 80s but it started out as "Lolich's Donuts."

Not only have there been no rioting in Detroit since 1984, Detroit was the only major city to not have a "Rodney King riot" or any disturbances related to the east coast power blackout two years ago.

First time I've been back online since the game but have to jump in the thread to say WTG Tigers!
Hard to say anyone "knows" that a big play is coming, but you could almost feel it building to that that walk off home run...or maybe I was just so willful I refused to accept he wouldn' do it. Either way, Tigers are on the way to the World Series!!!

"I don't know if he still does, but Lolich had a handful of donut shops in the burbs. There was one at the corner of Walton and Main in Rochester for years. That's hilarious, because as you no doubt recall, Mickey had a problem with an enlarging paunch, which enjoyed camping out over his belt buckle. As mean snot-nosed young high schoolers, we used to call him "the donut man."

I agree. They should never have let Pudge go. What a great player and a great guy. The guy's got an arm like a rocket.

You should be most impressed with that performance. I was sure the Tigers would in a 7 game series, for them to sweep is amazing.
Remember what the media was saying after the ALDS---why did the Yanks lose, rather than why the Tigers WON the series. They didn't make that same mistake twice, clearly the BETTER team won here too.
Any Detroit area freepers. Did players come out again to the fans with champagne??????
Now when the Mets take St. Louis out, we'll have a fun World Series!!!!!
Jim Leyland---Teacher, motivator, aggressive baseball genious= WINNER(again!!!!!!!)
Too bad Steve Lyons won't be working for FOX witnessing it. What a f'ing idiot!!!!!! You don't diss sweet Lou like that AND expect to get away with it!!!!!!!
