I think it is the product of an overblown sense of self-esteem--where they do not have to go by the rules they set up for the rabble because they are too good, smart, pretty, rich, whatever.

How often does some Dem violate firearm laws which would have you or I end up in the 'iron bar hilton' and get a pass... From straw buys (Feinstein, iirc) to full auto without a transfer stamp (Byrd), and numerous posession/carry violations as well.

The whole condescending liberal act does not score any points here.

My wife is Chippewa, and used to tend bar when things got lean.

One night one of the most obnoxious libs around--made even moreso by a few beer (imported, of course), was braying about being in MENSA, etc., and generally ticking off everyone in the place.

Then he bragged to her that his ancestors came over on the Mayflower.

She looked at him and calmly quipped "That's nice. Mine walked over."

You could have heard a pin drop. He spluttered a couple of times, set down his beer, and left. (Lousy tipper, anyway!)
