I'm now officially a minority, but I still won't change to a Democrat.

I would like to see the breakdown on a state by state basis, and compare the alimony and related laws in those states.

Where's the Affirmatice Action for us!?

Instead of congress reducing income tax for everyone, they'll hike it for married couples just to make it "fair."

Pretty much everyone I know is married. Maybe that's because I don't live in New York City.

This analysis means nothing and in no way diminishes the superior role of marriage as an institution. With all the population that wants to enter marriage, those exiting marriage via divorce or death of a spouse the segment of the population that enters into the sanction of marriage is enormous. I remember one article that pegged that portion of the population at, or near, 80%.
Leftist fruits need not apply.

The feminist lobby has been working for three decades to destroy traditional marriage, and they'be been terrifically successful at it.
The final assault will be to dilute marriage beyond all hope of recovery by forcing the fraud of gay marriage on the rest of us.

This is a stupid take by a stupid publication, because over 75% of people that ever WERE married get married again. In other words, it's just a matter of time in most cases before you're back on the team. STaying married as I can tell you, is much more difficult. Unless of course you own a boat, some quickrete, and like to fish on Christmas.

Some marriages should be institutionalized. Mine, for instance (on occasion).

All the tax reductions I've seen lately are for children or families, hardly fair to all citizens. Fair is rate reductions for all net taxpayers, lifestyle shouldn't matter. Forcing me to subsidize my neighbors large family deprives me of my liberty.

Marriage is a wonderful institution, but who wants to live in an institution?Marriage is a living institution - every day it's different ... at least that's what I've heard. And married fellows get it every night!

Well, baby-boomers are starting to enter widow-hood, thereby replacing married-couple households with single-individual households, an effect that counts double in the married-couple/other-household comparison by increasing the number of 'other' while decreasing the number of 'married-couple' households.
Oddly unmarried cohabitation, while not increasing the number of married-couple housesholds, decreases the number of 'other' households, since the shacked-up couple counts as one 'other' household, while if they each had their own apartment, they would count as two 'other' households.
Thus we see that whatever can be interpreted from the statistic, it's not necessarily a change in the moral complexion of the U.S.

"This is a stupid take by a stupid publication, because over 75% of people that ever WERE married get married again. "
Exactly. This is a classic case of the NYT "Lying with Statistics". I am quite sure this is caused by the increase in "unmarried households", which have increased for the simple reason that the country is more prosperous. More young adults can create their own "household" simply by renting an apartment. That is what makes numbers like this meaningless, among other reasons. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid... or Agenda, Agenda, Agenda. Take your pick.
