We have been screaming at the GOP at the tops of our lungs for 6 years and while they have become more and more deaf. The answer is to throw a majority of the Republicans out and get fresh blood.
That would be a really impressive statement if you could support it with a list of the "fresh blood" lining up to replace Republicans you'd like to through out.
If we could selectively have the RINOs targetted, particularly in the Senate, and we retained sufficient numbers to thwart an impeachment over the war (which remains uncertain)...or to filibuster the Law of the Sea Treaty or other insanity such as the Illegal Alien Amnesty bill Bush will get through a suddenly-agreeable Congress otherwise...
This is why I have been openly warning people just how unconcerned W appears to be at the prospect of losing the Republican House. Which has proven to be the more conservative of the bodies. The White House must have calculated they can get more of their REAL AGENDA through with DemocRATs than with conservatives. And why do you think that would be...?
The time to do that is in the primaries. Did you campaign for GOPers in the primaries?
Do you know the differences in issues between the GOP & Dem candidates in your state? Do you really support the Dem platform? If so, then vote Dem or stay home.
Complaining about the GOP *is* the Dem platform, so maybe you are a Dem.
Yep, but the only way to do that without at the same time putting a bunch of even worse Democrats in is to do it during the primaries, not the general election.
That said, appointment of federal judges and to some degree national security are still major differences between the parties. I say "to some degree", because if we are really fighting a war on terror, or anything else, our military budget should be more than 4% of GDP, which is only a few tenths of a percent higher than it was at the low point during the Bent One's administration. And in some ways things are actually worse now, since a much higher fraction is going to current operations in the war zones (beans, bullets and salaries of activated reservists and in theater contractors), rather than training, R&D, procurement, or even long term maintenance of equipment.

Crow is the smoking gun. The timing of the book, the negative aspersions attributed to Rove and Card et. al., suggest this was no accident... If Crow was sincere, he knows you don't have an easier fight after such a fast and you conceded the shooting match to the enemy.
The reported sanguinity of the White House, both Rove and Bush [alluded to by Colson, and Frank Barnes as well this morning] tends to fit in with the supposition that they really rather would see the RATs control Congress than continue to be constrained by conservatives.
