Across the country, Republicans are taking a beating: President Bush is at historic lows in public opinion polls, the war in Iraq has lost favor with voters, and the party is dealing with the latest in a series of ethics scandals that have Republicans staring at the prospects of losing control of Congress.
Yet, oddly enough, in California it may be Democrats who have the most reason to fear Election Day. Not only does their gubernatorial candidate, Phil Angelides, trail Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger heavily in the polls, but there is growing concern that if Angelides does not inspire Democrats to vote, low party turnout could seal the fate of other vulnerable Democrats and even left-leaning ballot propositions.
Recent polls have shown Republicans have a shot at winning a number of "down-ballot" races, including secretary of state, insurance commissionerand even lieutenant governor, where each candidate has put himself in position to take advantage of any Schwarzenegger coattail effect.
Nonetheless, Democrats remain confident that the national tide will rescue Angelides and other statewide candidates. Democrats would not necessarily come out to vote for Angelides, but against Republicans. And, they hope, disillusioned Republicans may stay home.
A survey last month by the Public Policy Institute of California taken before the Congressional page scandal showed that 44 percent of Republicans lack enthusiasm about voting, compared with 38 percent of Democrats.

Don't let the Dems ( including people pretending to be conservatives) con you into staying home, voting third party, or leaving blanks, helping the Dems win.
GET OUT AN VOTE STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET.
I'm voting straight Republican (on orders from Rush).
If the Republicans just get out the base, Republicans win. It's that simple.
Yep, that's the ticket. Count me in.
"I'm voting straight Republican (on orders from Rush)."

I am glad Rush is recommending this. People may have various problems with Republicans, but those pale in comparison to the disaster the Dems would be. McClintock said the same thing.
McClintock: "Like many of us, I too have disagreements with some of the Governor's proposals. These differences, however, do not justify the abandonment of our party's responsibility to work tirelessly to reelect this Republican governor and to elect our GOP candidates to statewide and legislative offices.
For this reason, I view any effort to attack Governor Schwarzenegger as an attack on my own candidacy and those of every Republican seeking partisan office in 2006. "
Is he?
The name of the candidate for AG is Poochgian? Good thing he's not a write in candidate...
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." -Manuel II Paleologus
There are two things important in this or any election.
1: Voting for the lesser of 2 evils.
2: Making sure your candidate understands he has a replacement in the wings.
The conservatives have failed on the 2nd point. Conrad Burns... And then when we had a chance to toss Specter we get screwed. But, a lesson is being learned by Santorum and others I think, as well.
Know your base and do not screw with your base. Lyndon Johnson preached that regularly. One of the most sucessful Senators ever, along with Russell and Byrd, Stevens and a handful of others.
In a State where we had conservative Governor Deukmejian (R) for 8 years and currently have a Governor Schwarzenegger, the name Poochigian is easy!
Vote YES for Pooch! The alternative for Top Cop is very ugly!
Demonstrating that Arnold is bashing Bush is actually bashing Arnold?
Whew! (Does not compute)
THUS, Mojave IS IMPLEMENTING THE DEM WIN STRATEGY, TO TRY TO DEMORALIZE REPUBLICANS AND HELP THE DEMS WIN. See my post 9, quoting Tom McClintock.
In CA, Bush' polls very low. CA voted for Kerry by some 20 points over Bush. Remember, CA is a very blue state.
It's a testimony to Arnold's superb win strategy that he and other Republicans have such a good chance of winning.
Hey, if someone can win with a name like Schwarzenegger, why not with a name like Poochigian? ;)
Why doesn't it bother you that Arnold won't publicly support Republicans and continually distances himself from the Party platform?
Sure you can't believe that Republican candidates would have a snowball's chance in that very hot place if it weren't for Arnold. Nice way you are showing your gratitude.
