WASHINGTON -- In the battle for control of Congress, Democrats hope enthusiasm trumps Republican efficiency.
Otherwise, they concede, they will have problems on Nov. 7 as a party still struggling to catch up with the GOP's ability to turn voters out of seeming thin air.
"Makes me green with envy," says Ellen Malcolm, the president of EMILY's List, which backs female candidates who support abortion rights. She was speaking of the Republican Party program that relies on reams of polling data, publicly available information and consumer choice records to identify likely GOP voters in even the most Democratic precincts.
Republicans most recently put their prowess on display in California, where they turned out enough conservatives in June to elect Brian Bilbray to the House, and a few months later in Rhode Island, where they motivated moderates and independents to vote for Sen. Lincoln Chafee in a primary.

They must have seen some truly disturbing poll numbers to be in this much panic.
Hmmmmm?? I wonder if Ellen ever considered having something to vote for as a criteria for getting out the vote ..??
Well, there's her problem in a nutshell.
Voters are turned off by feminist hags who supports infanticide.
Getting people enthused about exercising their right to vote--what a freakin conspiracy!
Republican turnout Machine? That's a joke. Voters turn out for elections when they think it is important and they vote R when they see no alternative. They do this on their own. If there are Party Bosses it's not real obvious. In fact, if anybody is running the Republican Party at all it's not real obvious.
Pretty much sums it up: the party of "feelings" vs. the party of logic. Nice of them to phrase it so neatly..........
This is the start of the CYA activity that Rush ws talking about this week.
Yep. They're trying to rally the DemonRat troops because their numbers stink and their message is that they have no message.
AP = Always Pimping
It's pretty simple
The Majority of Americans don't like Socialist policies
Which is why you don't see folks running across the border to leave this country
For Diane Irey's sake, I hope the so-called "GOP Turnout Machine" brings out enough voters to send that Traitor Murtha packing!
"Which is why you don't see folks running across the border to leave this country"
You hear plenty of socialists bellowing about doing that, but when it comes right down to it, they can't even stomach socialist-lite Canada, so they slink back into their wealthy little enclaves in Malibu and the Hamptons, lol.
I'd rephrase that. "For the country's sake..."!
Dems think exit polls and MSM articles will turn out their voters, Repubs actually have a better gotv strategy to move their actual voters to the polls.
Work smarter, not harder. That's been my motto since high school. :-)
"GOP's ability to turn voters out of seeming thin air"
I always thought it was Dems who got voters out of thin air.
Gee...shows what I know!
I believe that the Irey/Murtha numbers are worse for Murtha than we think. Until recently, there have been NO #'s available. That's very unusual for the dems to not show off a cream if that's what's actually happening to Irey. The current numbers are downplayed and shoved aside. I think dems don't want any attention drawn to this race. Attention brings out the worse in people/Murtha.
