Preview and analysis for Weekend Talk Shows, 10-14-06 and 10-15-06

Week six of the "official mid-term election campaign coverage" (as if it campaign coverage ever stops) and the DBM is in panic mode.  The plot to drive out the "evil Republicans" by using Iraq is in tatters since every time they forced the President to talk about Iraq and the War On Terror his polls and the Republican's polls go up, so they had to get off of that real quick.  Then they went to the dugout for their "relief slander" and pulled out the Foley scandal 3 weeks early, because trends weren't looking good and "real reporters" in the DBM were beginning to ask questions about the total BS that Billy Jeff had been spouting off in his meltdown on Fox.  Can't have that!  A little problem with that strategy, though, since they don't have all of the "facts" nailed down in their favor and they also have to trash the gay community in the process.  Harvey Fierstein and friends are really getting pissed about that.  And they expected this tactic to gross out those Neanderthal Christians who would clearly run away from the Republicans because they tolerate (horrors) homos in their midst.  Unfortunately the near universal reaction from the Christian conservative community is "they think we're Neanderthals?"   And on top of that those same folks are now saying "you know, I was toying with the idea of staying home on election day... but NOW...."  The other key comment in relation to the alleged Republicans who are "secretly gay" is along the lines of "hate the sin, love the sinner" and talking about wanting to protect and support these poor people who are being victimized by the real enemy.  Not good from the Dhimmicrat point of view.

On top of that heavy handed and obviously phony push polls were being trumpeted all week by the DBM (the pubbie's are DOOOMED! and should give up now... stay home... stay home).  But it didn't have the desired affect and there are signs of a growing backlash as proof comes out that la cage aux Foley was an orchestrated plot by high ranking Dhimmicrat operatives and Soros funded shadow groups who had the information and kept it secret in a clear criminal conspiracy.  So, it's time to haul out the next "master strategy that is guaranteed to win back Congress for the rightful masters of the little people™."  What plan, you ask?  Simple, get more push polls and use their "conclusions" as the basis for claiming that the Dhimmicrats are really the party of a tough aggressive foreign policy!

No, really.  Stop laughing.  I mean it.

But how in the hell did Karl Rove convince Lil Kimmah in North Korea to set off a nuke just 4 weeks before the election?  Damn that Rove!

On to the shows.

NBC Meet The Press continues their Senate debate series with the Minnesota race between Klobuchar (D) and Kennedy (R).  The Red Star Tribune has already declared this race over, so why bother having the vote?  And Lil Timmah will, of course, be asking the tough questions of the Democrat Socialist DFL candidate about whether she will support Harry Reid even if he is convicted of taking bribes and helping the Mafia.  What?  Lil Timmah isn't going to ask anything remotely like that?  Well surprise, surprise, surprise!

CBS Face The Nation goes for the A team on foreign policy this week, but is it because Secretary Rice reportedly made sympathetic statements about the Palestinians having the right to live "without occupation" or because they think they  can play "gotcha" over the latest dream sequence from Bob Woodward's book?  Warner is clearly on the air on CBS to talk about how bad he thinks things are going in Iraq.  After all, he hasn't been on the DBM screaming head shows in several weeks so he figures they have to book him after he says something critical that they can spin against Bush.  Isn't that a rule?  Sam Nunn has been working against nuclear proliferation ever since he left the Senate, concentrating on the problems with exactly the same countries that President Bush labeled the "Axis of Evil," but CBS hasn't thought it was important enough to talk to him (that might help Bush on his "axis of evil" stuff, dontcha know?).  Now, of course, in the aftermath of Lil Kimmah setting off his "nuke" (it is NOT a fizzle!  don't believe those lying scientists! believe the dear leader or you will be shot!) they can take what Nunn says and spin it to make GWB look bad.  CBS booking department!  Get that man scheduled ASAP!

Fox News Sunday isn't content with having given air time to Billy Jeff Clinton a few weeks ago (and allowed him to call life long card carrying Democrat Chris Wallace a right wing hit man), now they have decided to give equal time to... John Kerry!  Oh the humanity!  Bets are open on how long it will take Ketchup Boy to attack Vietnam vets per se this Sunday.  Doesn't it dawn on him that by making the term "swift boating" into a negative verb he is trashing his own claim to fame as a "hero" from Vietnam?  Nope - he's just not that bright.  Kerry will be the lead Ho in the new Democrat Gung Ho campaign to prove to everyone how tough they are (he served in Vietnam, did you know that?).  Secretary Rice is also on Fox but I don't expect much critical commentary on her reported "love fest" with Hamas, but I fully expect questions about Woodward's books.  Bets, anyone?  I'm almost willing to guarantee that no questions will be raised about Reid's little shell game with federal land swaps that netted him nearly a million dollars profit or recent calls for Sandy Burglar's pants stuffing habit to be investigated.  That might make the Dhimmicrats angry and Chris wants to be invited back to the cocktail parties.  He's ronery since Bill dissed him.  Our only hope in that regard is Brit, but he's been noticeably reticent on that topic on his own show since it broke.

ABC This Week Gives us John Bolton in place of Secretary Rice, but still the A team in my estimation.  I fully expect a "blame the current President and ignore the previous President" tag team match during not only this interview, undoubtedly with Georgie Steponallofus, but also during the "I hate the Bush family more than you do" roundtable in the last half hour of this show.  The Ford vs. Corker segment on Tennessee's Senate race will probably be interesting, if only to expose the DBM's plan for how they intend to attack Corker between now and election day.  But, OK, I admit, I'm going to watch the show this week because they've got Marg Helgenberger on in the voices segment.  Forgive me.  I am weak.

CNN Late Edition also offers us Ambassador Bolton this week.  Do they have some secret evidence they plan to spring on him of how he or Bush or Rice or Rove really engineered 9/11 in order to support the JOOOOOOS and steal the oil from the innocent and peace loving MOOOSLIMS?  I doubt it, but somehow that thought always occurs to me when anyone other than Fox books Ambassador Bolton (and I'm beginning to worry about Fox).  Beyond the  Ambassador and GOP chairman Mehlman the rest of CNN is a Bush hate fest this week.  Are they truly that desperate, ?  Will they start broadcasting "all Cindy Sheehan all the time?"  Of course not.  As Rush says, if they make it obvious who they are and what they want then they lose.  They're counting on fooling us again.  So go ahead, tell us again how Democrats are really the party that wants to fight and protect us from the Jihadis.  What?  Surrender is your best strategy?  Bad move, Bozos.

I'm always tempted to drop the Saturday shows from my preview but Opinion Journal always argues against that and then we have weeks like this which offer faint hope for some of the other shows.  The  Beltway Boys are following way too predictable a scenario for me, which is getting really boring.  I hope that maybe even once a decade they get outside of the beltway and realize that there is a "real world" out here (the quotes are for them, not me) that they just don't have a clue about.  Unless, of course, they surprise me this week?  Nah!    Lil Timmah Russert's show with Bob Woodward is totally lame and I think even he knows it.  Mark your calendars.  This may be the last "semi" network appearance of Bob Woodward regarding his failed "number one best seller" which has been trounced four to one by O'Reilly, for God's sake, on the "best seller" lists.  And now word starts to come out that he betrayed snakehead having spilled the beansto Darth Cheney about Kerry's "Ohio strategy" in 2004 which has gotten the DUmmies all pissed at him.  Lil Timmah's email has probably been overflowing with nastygrams about Woodward.

Okay, so that leaves me with my bottom line for this week.  It appears that the dims are in denial (the Polls are 150% accurate, trust them, they are planning our entire future based on those fantasies).  The pollsters are desperately trying to deny their own complicity in the current fraud because they know it's their last desperate gasp of legitimacy before they get swept away by this nasty concept called REALITY!  I'm betting that the strategy du jour of selling the dims as the party of tough foreign policy won't last out the day and that this upcoming week will be dominated by bad news for Reid and worse news for dims implicated in la cage aux Foley.  That means... tada... that they'll role out yet another "master strategy that is guaranteed to win back Congress for the rightful masters of the little people™."  Acme Political Consulting must sell them those things by the gross.

This has been cross posted to my blog at Wizards.townhall.com. This post exists primarily as a heads up for who is on the weekend talks shows, what they've been invited on to push (based on their recent pronouncements) and the spin (meme) the DBM is likely trying to push based on that information. All of this is prep work for the weekly Sunday Morning Talk Show thread posted by Alas Babylon!. That thread provides a live commentary and analysis of the Sunday talking head shows, with rare insight and exceptional fact checking. we are the Jedi Council of FreeRepublic, at least in regards to these DBM gabfests. You wanna know what was said and what it meant, as well as where they messed up? Read that thread!

I'll post a link to Mark Kilmer's excellent preview of the Sunday shows over at RedState.COM when it is up.

I'll also post a link to this Sunday's live thread here when it is up.

I hope you're not saying they need to find the body of a dead Congressional page buried on Dirty Harry's land before the DbM take notice.

18 pages of land deals!!!! - - Oh what a tangled web he weaves....

Frist needs to get on this. I've heard (think it was from Mark Levin - but it could have been from a couple of places, including FR) that Republicans aren't street fighters like the Dims, and I believe that to be true. I don't want them to go down in the gutter like the Clintonistas do, but they need to start fighting back more, calling the Dims on wrongdoings, and be a bit more punctual about it. Geez, they are now going to investigate Sandy Burglar. From what I've read is that the DOJ asked them to wait until the the trial, etc. was over. - - IIRC that was over about a year ago - - now, they're just getting around to it. I support the President and Republicans as much as anyone (more than some) but dang, sometimes they look like, well, quite frankly bumbling idiots - - they need to get their act and their talking points together (apparently they don't receive the daily (hourly) faxes like the Dims do.

I am an eternal optimist and think we can still pull this election out, but the Pubbies need to GOTV and start hammering back (in a 'nice' way, of course ;-) - -
Santorum wasn't letting Casey get away w anything on the debate and Corker was going after Ford (he looked like a fast-talking snake).

I had planned on doing a lot of work around the house today, but just finished watching the Air Force Memorial Dedication. - -It was WONDERFUL. I hope a lot of people got to see this - talk about inspiring patriotism. If you missed it, it will probably reply on C-Span 1. Now I need to get to work

great work, AB. You should send this to all of the outlets, but I'd specifically want to slap Fox News Watch with this because la cage aux Foley is still one of their topics this week. This is as obvious a case of distorting the news coverage for political reasons as I've seen in quite some time.

The Fox News Watch email is Newswatch@foxnews.com

On general principle, since it deals with media bias, I'd also send it to Reliable Sources. They take info via a web page form:

http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form5.html?25

and for grins I'd send it to FNS, which is FNS@foxnews.com

The Fox News Channel phone number is 1-888-369-4762

That old brilliant street fighter, John Fricking Kerry, has a new slogan he's trying out.  There's a thread posted about it from a UPI story

Kerry: Bush policy 'stand still and lose'

Watch for this phrase when he's on Fox tomorrow.

As usual you print words of wisdom. We have to get down and dirty as the situation dictates. Whether on talk radio, t.v, debates or whatever the forum, we risk it all by letting the dems get away with anything. And just like the terrorists if we let them get away with stuff we look weak and they press all the harder. They are just like Muslim extremists, you have to push their noses to the jail room floor before they get it.

Even the AP seems to get it, though they're trying to spin Republican turn out as something unfair. Here's another thread

Dems Facing Proven GOP Turnout Machine
AP ^ | 10/14/6 | LIZ SIDOTI

Expect to hear more stories like this and extra complaints about Republican fraud and suppressing Democrat voters.  They're already trying to set up both an excuse for when they fail and the possible logic behind either legal action or, for the serious moonbats, for a revolution (or at least some violent demonstrations).  This is also why the polls are getting more rapid and more slanted.  Again, the WaPo poll from the week after Foley resigned was right around 50% Democrat and less than 30% Republican.  And they wonder why we don't believe them and call them biased.

Mark Kilmer has posted his preview over at RedState.COM

The Sunday Morning Talk Shows - Preview

Rice and Bolton for the GOP - Dean and Kerry for the Dems. That says it all.

By Mark Kilmer

For Sunday, October 15, 2006

Meet the Press (NBC): Host Tim Russert talks to our ambassador to the U.N., John Bolton. After that, he slips into one of his little faux-debates, this one between Representative Mark Kennedy of of Minnesota and Amy Klobuchar, his DFL opponent.

FOX News Sunday (FNS): Host Chris Wallace offers us something which honeslty should have been left in the past. Q: "Have President Bush's policies left America less safe?" Answering this question in the affirmative (and "reporting for duty") will be John Kerry. He then talk to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice about North Korea.

Face the Nation (CBS): Host Bob Schieffer talks to Rice then to John Warner and Sam Nunn, who co-founded the Nuclear Threat Initiative with drunken billionaire Ted Turner.

This Week (ABC): Host George Stephanopoulos talks to Bolton then does one of those taped things with Bob Corker and Harold Ford.

Late Edition (CNN): Host Wolf Blitzer talks to Bolton, Howard Dean, Ken Mehlman, and Levin & Hagel.
-------------------------

I find it kind of sad hearing John Bolton defend the effectiveness of the United Nations, but that's his gig now. Secretary Rice always has something significant to say, and the Warner-Nunn interview on FTN could be interesting. Howard Dean never appears opposite Ken Mehlman, and I'm not surprised. Karl Levin is a sourpuss and Chuck Hagel is odd.

Perhaps Russert can ask Klobuchar and Blitzer can ask Howard Dean about Claire McCaskill's problems.

And as always (Phsstpok) has his Talk Show preview up at FreeRepublic.

I'll have the review in this space on Sunday afternoon.

That made me chuckle, but you know, the truth is that they come to believe these polls, even though they KNOW deep down they faked them and it seems to lead to a kind of dementia.

I sent an email to Brian Ross of ABC News asking if "Brian Ross Investigates" shouldn't be renamed "Brian Ross Investigates Republicans" in light of the high fiving he's doing on his site regarding Foley and his lack of ANYTHING AT ALL on the highest ranking elected democrat....

After all, if your hyping yourself as an "investigator" shouldn't you be right down the middle non-biased?

Don't expect I'll hear an answer!

That's the 1st I've seen that about Claire - -WOW! I suspect it will go the way of the Reid dealings - DBM won't be reporting on it. Now, if they were Republicans, well, then it would be all over and numerous times each day (as AB has shown)

This always makes me laugh. And, just how are Republicans suppressing Democrat voters in Democrat strongholds with Democrats manning the polling stations and controlling these counties?

Those Republicans and Karl Rove must be really good to get past all this.

Rush is fond of pointing out that the districts in Florida where all of the Republican cheating supposedly took place, e.g. the infamous butterfly ballots, are 100% owned and operated by Democrats. Same with the districts in Ohio where the vote rigging and voter suppression was alleged.

Their excuse is that the state officers at the top of the election pyramid in both states were Republicans. Yep, they've figured it out. The Republican state office holders ordered the Democrats to throw the election. Yep, that's the ticket.

Mort is predicting 21 seat pick up for the dims in the House and Fred is now predicting 18 for the dims. For the first time they are both predicting that control of the House shifts to the Dhimmicrats.

Both think the pubbies will hold the Senate, but barely.

These children need to grow up and stop listening to the inside the beltway echo chamber. I'm going to send them a note and ask what kind of groveling will be appropriate from both of them when the Republicans not only hold both the House and Senate but what extreme thing should they be expected to do if the Republicans pick up seats?

Believe me, I won't settle for them putting a trash basket on their heads like Carville did in 2002. It will be much more colorful and should be designed to teach them a lesson.

I'm open to suggestions.

Okay...no one needs to worry about voting according to Fred Barnes..is is OVER...THE DEMS WIN, THE DEMS WIN!!!

But, you know what is really maddening, and scary???

I heard an election historian on a radio show last night..and he said in 2002, appro. 39% voted that could have..and he said that projections for this year are about 27%...

Can you guys imagine out foreign policy, our "permanent" tax cuts...our war in Iraq could depend on less than 30% of the electorate????

ANDDDDDDDDDDd...worse yet, that it could go BAD for Republicans mainly because of ONE representative sending sexually explicit IMs?????

More on the problems for Democrats in California because of how badly Angelides is as a gubernatorial candidate.

Angelides could dash Dems' hopes California's Dems might not fare well

What if Republicans pick up seats in the California delegation?  What kind of affect will that have on the narrative?  Even more what if picking up those seats is the difference in holding the House or increasing their hold as opposed to losing seats or control?

I was listening to Mark Levin's show last night...and he played the hymns of all of the different services...very patriotic, of course...but also inspiring.

SOOOOOOOOO...my idea is to have a Republican get a recording of all those hymns...and park by the polling places in the close districts and states...and play those hymns loud enough so voters can hear them as they go into vote...

Of course in lily-livered lefty areas of town....it won't work....but in moderate areas, or places where the Republican "problems" may have the polls really close...it just MIGHT get people to really think about our COUNTRY and our troops...and what is important right now..not Foleygate.

Start picking up the phone and making calls. Organize car pools to get voters to the polls. Make sure everyone knows about early voting if it's available in your states. Make sure folks who can't get to the polls or will be out of town have absentee ballots by the time the cut off for getting them comes around (here in Tennessee it's the end of this month).

What if we can get our turnout up to 35% or even over 40%? We certainly have the pool to draw from. Don't accept anyone telling you that they're staying home this time. Just remind them "Speaker Pelosi, House Majority Leader Murtha, Senate Majority Leader Reid, Chairman Rangel, Chairman Conyers, Chairman Leahy, impeachment, surrender, Jihadi nukes, no missile defense, etc." and they'll get the idea.

I don't know what to make of all the polls lately...up until now I haven't believed them....but the last couple of days have me worried....every Repub pundit I have seen on tv all look down in the dumps....if the polls are so wrong why are they down...the only person that sounds optimistic is Rush, and thank God he is......

That is exactly the way it was on Election Day, 2004. I had voted in the morning. Later that day, on the drive home from work, I listened to Hannity, who sounded hysterical, begging for and pleading with folks to get out and vote. Once I got home, I put on Fox News only to see a very happy Juan Williams and Susan Ostrich. Britt looked glum, Fred was solemn, and Mort was, just, well, Mort. Mara Liasson looked pleased.

I knew right then there was big trouble. I didn't feel that way, or my sense was things were ok, but "Dang!" I thought, "All the pundits seem so worried. Maybe I should be."

Vindication came about 8:30 pm that night, with the first of many Michael Barone stories. He kept telling us, while the exit polling was looking real good for Kerry, the early vote tallies simply weren't showing that. As the night wore on, it was plain that the pundits, even the conservative ones, were wrong, and all those who were basing their coverage on exit polls, right up to the actually tallies, were wrong!!!!!

I think it is happening again! The surprise for them will be on November 7th, when the Republicans keep control of the House and Senate. Keep the faith, and don't forget to vote!!!!!!

The only person I respect and believe is Michael Barone...but he is even glum and does not offer much hope....I remember 04 as well and you are right about Hannity...I almost had a heart attack when he came on...I thought for sure it was all over...maybe there will be another surprise this Nov 7th...
