IF FOLEY WERE A SCOUTMASTER.....(Democraps would be demanding sleepovers)
NY POST ^ | October 13, 2006 | VOX POPULI

Posted on 10/14/2006 6:03:58 AM PDT by Liz

****......the Foley affair was masterfully exploited by the Democrats; it's also a textbook example of hypocrisy ("A Perfect Storm," Podheretz PostOpinion, Oct. 6). If Rep. Mark Foley had been a gay Boy Scout troop leader, there is no doubt that those condemning the GOP would have condemned the Boy Scouts for dismissing him. When the Boy Scouts attempted to do what some accuse the Republicans of failing to do - separating potential predators from potential prey - they were accused of bigotry and gay-bashing. The double standards and hypocrisy of GOP critics on this issue is astounding. Name redacted Chicago, Ill.

**** If the Foley debacle results in a Democratic-controlled Congress, it would be the right thing for the wrong reason. President Clinton's extracurricular activities did not distract him from doing his job. Investigating it, however, consumed the media and Congress, and it was their hounding that distracted Clinton. Let's not let Foley distract the country from stopping the Bush administration from dismantling the Constitution. South Windsor, Conn.

**** The Foley affair, executed by Democratic operatives, is just another politically timed cheap trick that reeks of rank hypocrisy. It will blow over, but after receiving years' worth of negative coverage by the media on the War on Terror, the Republican base is fighting mad. We can expect higher than normal turnout by Republicans and a thinly held majority on Nov. 8. East Northport

**** I suppose the Democrat who leaked the story should have sat on it until Foley got a chance to fondle the boys in person. Kearny, N.J.

Foley's faux pas would be a distant memory but for idiots who keep writing articles about it.

Foley should have offered to amend his emails, ala Reid.

Everyone needs to look at the MSM on this one. Never, ever, in the history of the MSM's pro-Democrat braying has there been a better example of their double standard.

Does anyone doubt that if Foley were a leftist, the MSM would be ignoring this story, or at worst, casting it in a lighthearted way?

Meanwhile Harry Reid is mostly getting a free pass with his Mafia ties.

Man oh man, what a way to run news networks.

Good grief..this poster writes:

"**** I suppose the Democrat who leaked the story should have sat on it until Foley got a chance to fondle the boys in person. Kearny, N.J."

I guess the poster doesn't realize that that is exactly what they did..they had the emails since last April(if not longer)!!

True enough-----but handled correctly, the episode is a goldmine of isses for conservatives:

---Chris Shays actually got gonads, compapring Foley to Teddy and Chappaquiddick

---paints gays as bad guy pedophiles (an image they detest)

---wipes out gays in Capitol Hill jobs (well, temporarily)

---gives conservatives a definite edge on gay issues

----Democrats have to answer questions about what they knew.

Nice mix of issues there.

Taken directly from GLAAD's website: An article written March 6, 1992

"This kind of thing feeds into people's misconceptions and fears about gay men," commented Hollie Conley, Public Information Chair of GLAAD/San Francisco Bay Area. "First of all, to claim that gay men would compromise the 'good work and solid values of eight decades' is outrageously offensive. And to claim that gay men participating in scouting would open BSA up as a 'hunting ground for homosexuals' is reprehensible. Stop participating in this hateful dialogue -- for the sake of young scouts, if for nothing else."

"The Foley affair, executed by Democratic operatives, is just another politically timed cheap trick that reeks of rank hypocrisy."

The thing is though there is some merit to the scandal. I don't want to dismiss how slimy Foley was or how poorly this was handled. The leadership had heard rumblings of this slimeball for a while. Something should have been done. Secrets that juicy are hard to keep and they should have known that if the Dems ever got a hold of it they would use it. And not just use it but use it in October. You don't spring a huge surprise on your opponents in April, you spring it in October. Had we done things to head this off, Foley's seat wouldn't be in jeopardy and perhaps we'd be able to be on message more instead of being distracted by a slime ball homosexual pervert in our midst.

" President Clinton's extracurricular activities did not distract him from doing his job."

Clinton's extracurricular activities were his job, in his weak mind.
