As Democrats refuse to let up on former Rep. Mark Foley, some Republicans are returning fire. But they'll have to do a lot more fighting back if they want to win on Election Day.
Time and again Democrats prove themselves to be ferocious street fighters, especially in campaign season. When they get hit, they instinctively hit right back.
For instance, it was more than 15 years ago that Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass., was reprimanded for violating House rules to help his "roommate" Stephen Gobie, who was running a male prostitution service out of Frank's Washington apartment.
Democrats didn't make Frank resign, which Foley did instantly. And they certainly didn't cower or become paralyzed.
The brazen, unapologetic Frank remains in Congress, and will become chairman of the House Financial Services Committee if the Democrats gain control.
But lately, we must say, the GOP has been showing some grit:
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., gave it to his possible 2008 presidential foe, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., after she blamed North Korea's nuclear test on the Bush administration.

Well I'm sick of them backfiring.
I wonder why the Harry Reid scandal isnt all over the place? :\ hmmmm
The problem is that the Dems can fight the Republicans and the MSM goes out of their way to help them.
Republicans try to fight Dems, and the MSM buries the news.

Yea... no agenda here... and Reid no nowhere to be found...
Still Foley and trying to suppress the religious vote...
Nothing has happened yet, and I'm not holding my breath.
The lack of action on the Reid scandal underscores the need for the Republicans to take back the White House and the Executive branch. If Republicans were in charge of the Justice Department and the FBI, that lying, thieving scumbag Sandy Berger would never have gotten away with a slap on the wrist for stealing and destroying classified documents from the National Archive, and the FBI would be on Harry Reid like flies on dog feces, yes sir. It's absolutely imperative that the Republicans take back the White House so that this kind of corruption can be prosecuted to the fullest....
Oh, wait-a-minute.... Nevermind.
Sometimes it all seems like such a friggin' waste of time.
sorry democrat* leadership
The republicans had better grow some spines here post haste!
As a part of the Republican's offensive, they need to illustrate how the msm helps the democrats. Rub it up both their noses.
I'm glad that Mueller remembered that we has a word 'treason' still available, however I think he just raised the bar to qualify for it. JMO.
has=have sheeesh.
Today when asked about how Foley could change the results of the elections Tony Snow could have said..."there's bad on both sides... Nixon Nearly got impeached, Clinton got impeached, Foley stepped down due to accusations, there are accusations about Reid's shady dealings..."
But he didnt
It's no secret that he media is pro-democrat. But during live press conferences, republicans could atleast throw in the information about Reid, Sandy Berger...etc.
True...but the consequences are totally different.
I hear you.
I don't vote for Republicans as much as I vote against democrats and their media propogandists.
It seems so much easier for journists to hit that (R) key than to hit the (D) key.
When a Democrat does something crooked or embarassing, they often forget to hit the (D) completely.
thats true... we do have a hand and seem to not be playing it...
Ofcourse they are. The democrats are not afraid to expose the republicans. The republicans sit back and say nothing about the democrats. If they would mention it on live TV, atleast it would get out there.
