Our president met with the President's Management Council. Fact Sheet: The President's Management Agenda: Making Government More Effective

He signed the SAFE Port Act in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

He met with members of the 57th Bomb Wing from World War II, and with members of the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, an air demonstration squadron.

Another bill signing today: Bush signed S-3728 into law, the North Korea Nonproliferation Act of 2006.

And the Dow-Jones Industrial Average rose to another record close today to mark the third straight week of triple-digit increases in the blue chip index. The final closing figure was 11,960.51. And according to Fox News, consumer confidence is rising sharply in October.

Isn't it amusing how much these dogs want to be with people? My sister's dog always wanted to be a lap dog. The only problem is that he was over 4" tall and 130 lbs. He solved the problem by finding someone sitting in a kitchen chair, and placing his body so that he had his stomach resting on a knee. If he could also get a kiss, he was in heaven.
He also liked to sit on the sofa to watch tv. He'd put his back legs on the floor and sit upright. Wish I'd had a camera for one of those shots!

We have fruit bread which I assume is similar to your raison bread but do not know the other. I think I may seen a recipe in my breadmaker booklet.

Do you have malt loaf?

He was HUGE! Lulu is only part black Lab but she a regular size for a Lab: about 80 lbs. She also would do the lap dog trick if you let her. Her owners discourage it but sometimes she'll come up to me or someone else on the deck and give you one paw, and when you take that, and have her weight supported, she'll give you the other paw so that you are supporting her whole upper body. I can't stand dogs licking my face but she'd like to, especially once she's got someone in the hands-to-paws lock.

I know a guy who has a mix that is part Mastif. The dog is huge and it also sits on their couch like a person and watches TV. It is absolutely hilarious. It looks a lot like this, but this angle doesn't show how massive the dog is.

You know, it's really kind of scary to think of all the posts that are floating around out there in cyberland that could come back to haunt a person.

Um, Jonny, the CDC put out a (for real) warning that, as your FRiend, I feel I must draw to your attention.

CDC Probe Links 21 Deaths to Cough Syrup

So don't drink the stuff in the white plastic cough syrup bottles, k?

I searched google using "A Day in the Life of President Bush" FreeRepublic.com and I think it unearthed ALL the Doses--165,000 results. Wow. I found several from February 2001, but nothing earlier than that yet.

Click here if you want to search through them. They're in no particular order :-/

Young lady! The mind leaps forward .. what would you have done as a teenager at the drive-in?? teasing ;)ROFL!!

I bet you're having a handful of pure fun with Tommy ..enjoy!

Thanks, GEM, for the Dose ... love the Romeo/Juliet scene .. they're such romantics .... sigh.

jonny ... how about this knockout lady? She's SO gorgeous, isn't she ?? And she's a Thunderbird! She flies complicated flying machines .. WOW! (Being Polish, I could maybe give you some ethnic insights .. ;)

Air Force Maj. Nicole Malachowski, the first woman pilot on the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds are in Washington this week for the dedication of the Air Force Memorial, scheduled Oct. 14. Air Force photo

US Air Force Memorial Dedication - this weekend

I watched a segment about the memorial, the engineering that went into making sure they were stable and safe, and what they went through to choose a design that graphically said "flight." This is what they chose (the 3 spires, not the crane in the middle).

"The Memorial itself is 270 feet high and appears to be soaring; its array of arcs against the sky evokes a modern image of flight by jet and space vehicles. At the same time, it enshrines the past in permanent remembrance of the pioneers of flight who came before, and pays homage to those of the future.

Once the decision was made to have vertical elements, the number three became important, three being resonant with significant associations for the Air Force, including the three core values of today: Integrity first, Service before self, and Excellence in all we do. It is also the smallest number of elements needed to define and enclose a space. The spires are asymmetrical, dynamic, each a different height so that the view of the Memorial changes from every angle."

I love the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels .. would love to see this .. I bet it will be spectacular.

ILW -- maybe you'll be able to catch some of it.

Brian Wilson show will be showing his ride with the Thunderbirds this weekend .. not sure which day.

We have 2 rescue labs that were so starved as puppies their growth was stunted. They are about 40 pounds and small..but the older they get the more they hate strangers. we have to kennel them when someone comes over, but we love them to death and I thank God that we found them when we did!

Thank you for that post about the Thunderbirds. I've never seen them but we have the Blue Angels perform (WOW) over Lake Washington every summer and it is one fab-tacular show.
