University of Wisconsin marching band members routinely engaged in hazing involving alcohol and sexual behavior, the school said Thursday in explaining its decision to put the band on probation.
UW-Madison Chancellor John Wiley said a band member was pressured into shaving his head in a hazing incident and other members danced seminude during the band's trip to the Sept. 23 University of Michigan football game.
Wiley said those behaviors, the latest after several years of reported misconduct, prompted him to warn the band's 300 members to shape up or risk losing their travel and performance privileges.
Other behaviors attributed to band members in the past include:

I hope this creates a terrible funk over the campus, they can't deal with the distractions and the Univ of Minnesota (my alma mater) swopes in and wins Paul Bunyan's Axe tomorrow!
I'm probably asking for too much - aren't I?
Comments or opinions - anyone?
.....One time, at Band Camp...........
You're asking way too much...
As for the band this activity is nothing different from what they've done since the bad times in the program. The difference is a chancellor that wants only the type of lunacy on campus that he will tolerate - professors that say Bush is Hitler.
ON WISCONSIN!
Sure sounds that way. Reminds me of an incident when two college bands got into a fight during a football game. It was a "riot."
Where are the PARENTS?
No one in their RIGHT mind would want a PUBLIC SCHOOL raising them!!!!
Anyone know if they'll play a Packer game this year? That's always a reason to go. That and the flyover.
You mentioned previous "...bad times in the program...".
LOL! This still sounds like bad times!
What were the previous "bad times" like?
Arson for hire? Armed robbery?
Bucky Band is on double secret probation.
I pretty much am prohibited from ever running for elected office because of the stuff I did in a major university marching band back in the 1970s. We raised more hell than any of the fraternities or sororities, although there wasn't any hazing of freshmen. Just lots of debauchery on away-game trips.
I wasn't specific...the bad times for the football program. These type of antics have been going on forever...hell they used to do the stuff IN the stadium.
It was the only reason to go to Camp Randall then.
"Band Nerds Gone Wild!"....................
I would assume so...maybe the Thursday night game against the Vikes or the MNF game I think they have at home?
I went to the Bears game this year. Wasn't ready for that flyover. It was an amazing rush.
This is a college band they're talking about.
That's worse. Missed that.
By now kids should have firm values and beliefs. Parents can't be responsible for them forever!
In the "Peoples Republic of Madison"? Say it ain't so!
