UNITED NATIONS The United States dropped the possibility of using force against North Korea over the regime's purported nuclear test, a concession to Russia and China in the hope of seeing a U.N. Security Council resolution on the standoff passed by Friday.

Tell it to Saddamn.
Well, it is better to leave the Republicans in office than to have the dims in control. They will definitely hamstring the President with legal matters, testimony & Congressional inquires for the next 2 years. The White House will become tied down with that crap rather than making hard decisions on our national security.
"The USSR fell without the US bombing them."
Keep believing that. The only thing that has changed in the USSR in 17 years is that they are no longer committed to communism through the end of a rifle.
A Communist is still in charge, the media is still blacked out, many districts are still run by Communists and now they are all rich because the Russian mafia took control of everything then the communists came in and took it from them.
"They own half our debt........"
Sickening, isn't it?

Not necessarily because what are they going to do? Call the loans? If we default on the loans then they have nothing but paper, right?
Dream on; we have a gutless country that will not protect itself!
Hug and kiss your family today, for tomorrow we may be dead!
From all indications this appears to be the manner in which we will now handle the crisis. We will wait until the next attack and then depending on who is in power, we will either surrender or fight. I'm tired of seeing the military have to work with both arms tied behind their backs and I would prefer we go ahead and win this war (because we can), but it does appear we are afraid of something or someone. I tend to agree we are afraid of china, per our present attitude. A nuclear explosion is in the offing on our home soil, it would appear. The only question is when, should we fail to surrender. I prefer to fight but I am only one. Our nation's leaders hold the military option(s), not me.
This is a lie. President Bush and John Bolton said, "The Military Option is very much still on the table". Divide and conquer ain't working on me!
LLS
Bush has always been scared of North Korea - because they're afraid of Red China.
Well, it's high time that we stop cowering, buck up, and gird for war. We all know that China is planning on going to war. Where is the Leadership? What about getting factories built and running, refocusing our national mindset, redirecting moneys into creating a defensive war machine. It's about time!
TV announcer: Once again, today's winning lotto number was 4. In other news, alien saucers continue to rain destruction upon Earth. We now go live to an emergency address by Earth President McNeal.
President McNeal: Ladies and gentlemen, our course is clear. The time has come to knuckle under. To get down on all fours and really lick boot. Give our alien masters whatever they want.
American politicians are afraid to get big business mad at them.
You are right in part, but the bottom line is that at this moment, we absolutely are not capable of a large-scale land war in Asia. NK will have to be dealt with in other ways, whether it's behind the scenes pressure on the ChiComs, arming Japan, or whatever. There are military realities here.
Don't be deluded. There are no "secret" plans.
Bush jr has joined the ranks of Bush sr.
Are you a complete retard? Have you actually been over there and talked to these people? they are more cutthroat capitalists that WE are.
Russia is marching away from communism while we are marching straight towards it.
There is no issue so important that we cannot walk away from what is needed. Appease the UN, good grief will we never learn.
What a bunch of nervous nellies on this thread! The world has a "crisis" somewhere almost every day. If anyone thinks this president is not working behind the scenes on both offensive and defensive tactics, they are in la la land.
We don't need a ground war in Asia right now or anytime. There are more surgical ways to defuse Lil' Kim and his ilk.
Just having our Naval military show up the area as they are now, should calm him down somewhat. Iran isn't laughing -- they saw Saddam crawl out the spider hole.
Actually, the US promised not to attack N Korea during the six party talks last year. And President Bush has not ruled out anything while saying diplomacy must be given every effort to work. Whether or not it comes to fighting will depend on what N Korea does in response to the focused Security Council resolution punitive measures whenever it is passed.
